About You Your contribution As a member of the Safety team, the Occupational Safety and Health Specialist is responsible for managing and monitoring safety programs at Wakefern distribution centers. These program elements include, but are not limited to policy compliance, auditing and monitoring safety and health programs and initiatives, supporting accident investigations, conducting reporting analysis, and assembling and facilitating safety trainings. This position is located in Elizabeth, NJ. The shift will be approximately from 12:00pm-8:00pm weekdays. About You Your contribution The Retail Investigator is responsible for the total security of an assigned group of stores in their geographic area- 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The Retail Investigator’s primary focus is to protect assets and prevent losses by utilizing a variety of tools to identify areas of exposure, including, but not limited to: AI Intelligence Monitoring, CCTV review, POS exception-based reporting, technology, and regular surveillances of all shifts, associates and vendor activities at store level. What you’ll do • Visit stores during the hours it is open for business. Meet with the manager on duty or their representative and discuss store security concerns. Monitor associates, customers, and vendors for potential theft or fraudulent activity., • Be at a store prior to the store’s opening and observe their operational activities, physical security, safe management, cash handling, and general opening procedures., • Be at a store when product is being received. This includes both Wakefern and vendor deliveries. Monitor the receiving procedures to ensure adherence with all best practices., • Visit the store when it is closed for business and observe night crew activity. Check physical security, including the perimeter of store and parking lot areas., • Develop and implement store employee purchase procedures at each store and to randomly spot check employee purchases for accuracy., • Assure that all store detectives employed by the Member owner at assigned locations are Wakefern certified in all aspects of shoplifting and apprehension procedures to maintain a zero-liability environment., • Perform confidential, complex investigations, possibly not related to their normal responsibilities, as assigned by the Asset Protection leadership team., • Utilize the Gensuite Case Management platform to generate detailed reporting to document all store visits, investigations, special assignments, or auditing activities, • Regularly monitor POS exception- based reporting and research all transaction activity that has been flagged as high risk by current KPIs., • Partner with management to provide information and training on Asset Protection sponsored initiatives, including: armed robbery prevention, shrink control, Flim-Flam, SCO theft awareness, shoplifting certifications, and all Asset Protection technology platforms, • Be prepared to take appropriate action when performing their duties, whether during an apprehension or on a special assignment, in a manner that minimizes the risk of injury to themselves or others., • Perform surveillances as needed utilizing CCTV equipment and/or by employing other methodologies., • Perform routine safety functions to include Mock OSHA audits, inspections, training of safety committee personnel, and attending store safety committee meetings., • Conduct detailed security surveys for new store locations and remodeled stores., • Recruit and manage the selection process for store detectives hired directly by the Member., • Facilitate new store security design and obtain security-related equipment and systems such as alarms, CCTV, guards, and locksmiths., • Attend the Wicklander Interviewing Skills workshops for regular and advanced level training in effective interviewing., • Attend the First Responder training to become a certified First Responder per the National Safety Council requirements., • Proactively maintain proficiency in all Asset Protection specific technology in their assigned stores, including, but not limited to: Everseen, FaceFirst, Gatekeeper, LaneHawk, Purcheck, SmartShelf, Social Media Monitoring, etc. What we’re looking for • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. This role, under the direction of the Assistant General Counsel, will provide counsel to business partners and management within the Company, and will act as a liaison and consult with outside legal counsel, as necessary. This position may also advise one or more of Company’s subsidiaries on legal issues and risks impacting the subsidiary, specifically in connection with Company’s long term business goals and legal strategy. The person in this position, relying on a combination of legal expertise and knowledge of the business, provides legal advice and recommendations for action to executives and management, to advance the Company’s interests and reduce legal risk to acceptable levels. These recommendations include complex matters having a significant impact on the organization’s activities and operations. Essential Functions Under the direction of the Assistant General Counsel, advise senior management on emerging legal issues and provide legal advice, recommendations, oversight and guidance with respect to legal issues and areas of law that impact the organization, which include, but are not limited to, the following: • Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution, • Employment and Labor Law, • ERISA and Benefits Law, • Regulatory Matters, • Commercial Law, • Prepares, drafts, and negotiates various standard and non-standard contracts for the organization to ensure compliance with business requirements and organizational policy. Manage employment and all other commercial litigation, including responding to attorney demand letters, effectively negotiating resolution of claims, and making recommendations to senior management on corrective action. Collaborate with, supervise and manage outside counsel to ensure receipt of high-quality, on-budget, cost-effective, timely, practical and business-oriented legal advice on all matters involving outside counsel, which include hiring and, if applicable, RFPs, performance management and strategic oversight. You will be required to develop and monitor budgets and oversee outside counsel on all matters. Develop a thorough understanding of and familiarity with the company's business, its people, products, markets, facilities, customers, and competitors to identify trends and formulate strategies and processes accordingly. Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is $170,000 to $205,000. Your contribution The Product Inspector position is responsible for performing routine and thorough inspections of all inbound perishable foods to ensure the quality, wholesomeness, proper labeling, and fair packaging in adherence to the Wakefern standards. The Product Inspector will be expected to exhibit first-hand knowledge of Wakefern’s Food Safety and Quality Practices along with USDA and FDA Guidelines. Additional job functions noted below. The hours worked will be 12:00am-8:00am. What you will do • Inspects all inbound deliveries to ensure the purchased goods conform to all established product specifications, standards, and grade requirements. This applies the Drive for Results competency., • Performs random organoleptic inspections of inbound goods to assure the quality, grade, and wholesomeness of the product., • Inspects all inbound deliveries for cleanliness and soundness of the transportation vehicle and the absence of cross contamination., • Monitors product temperatures by means of physical probing of goods and observation of time and temperature recording devices., • Verifies the weights and counts of received goods., • Examines all packaging for proper labeling and enforces all packaging and labeling requirements of the FDA, USDA, and USDC., • Monitors products in inventory and storage for quality and safety., • Performs daily sanitation inspections of all applicable facilities and warehouses., • Gathers and organizes all records and documentation to comply with all regulatory requirements., • Monitors all control points, critical control points, and quality control points for each of the food safety and food quality plans for the applicable perishable food facilities., • Monitors store returns to determine if credit is warranted and direct operations as to the disposition of the returned goods.
