Job DescriptionJob Title: Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic - Lead Location: New Orleans, LA Job Type: Full-Time Pay Range: $35.00 - $40.00 / hour (Depending on Experience) Overview: We are seeking a Maintenance Lead responsible for leading a maintenance team while actively performing repairs on heavy mobile equipment. Approximately 80% of the time will be hands-on, with 20% spent on administrative duties like scheduling, documentation, and vendor coordination. The Maintenance Lead will manage preventive and reactive maintenance tasks, prioritize based on operational needs, and ensure compliance with safety and ISO standards. This role requires leadership, technical expertise, and experience with maintenance systems like Maximo.Credentials Required: • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)Reports To:, • Perform diagnostics and repairs on forklifts, cranes, loaders, and other heavy mobile equipment, • Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance, • Use electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting, • Inspect equipment for HSSE compliance, • Determine in-house vs. third-party repair needsAdministrative and Leadership Duties (20%), • Assign and schedule tasks in CMMS (Maximo), • Manage purchase orders, inventory, and parts, • Provide status updates to Asset Management and Operations, • Ensure documentation and compliance reporting, • Mentor and coach team members, • Manage communication between maintenance and operations, • Track KPIs such as equipment availability, PM compliance, and downtime reduction, • Maintain safety and ISO complianceQualification and Education Requirements:, • High school diploma or equivalent required, • Vocational/technical training preferred, • 5+ years of experience in heavy equipment maintenance; leadership preferred, • Technical knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, and mechanical systems, • Proficient in CMMS (Maximo preferred), • OSHA 30 preferred, • Welding/forklift certifications a plus, • Valid driver's license with clean record, • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends/on-callRequired Skills:, • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics, • Proficient with schematics, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, and maintenance software, • Strong organizational and communication abilities, • Leadership and mentoring abilitiesPreferred Skills:, • Inventory and parts sourcing experience, • Knowledge of ISO standards, • Vendor management, • Advanced understanding of heavy equipment systems and repairsLeadership and Team Development, • Mentoring and directing technicians; promoting a safety-first cultureTime Management and Prioritization, • Efficiently balance reactive and preventive maintenance tasksOperational and Administrative Execution, • Competent with CMMS tools and compliance reportingSafety and Compliance Focus, • Committed to HSSE and ISO standards across all maintenance operationsPhysical Requirements (Abbreviated):, • Frequent standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs), climbing, crouching, and working in loud environments, • Must use PPE (hardhat, safety shoes, glasses, vests), • Vision and hearing requirements apply, • May be exposed to heat, vibration, electrical hazards, confined spaces, and fumesRequired Training:, • Must complete annual safety and maintenance training Note: The specific duties, skills and qualifications may vary depending on the company’s requirements and the nature of the tasks performed at the site.
