Sevan's Project Engineer, Estimating is a key part of our Construction Services team that supports both preconstruction and project delivery efforts. This position is ideal for recent graduates or early-career professionals seeking to build a foundation in construction estimating, project management, and commercial construction operations. The Project Engineer assists with quantity takeoffs, subcontractor bid solicitation, cost analysis, and estimate preparation while also supporting Project Managers throughout the construction lifecycle. This role provides exposure to the full project process, from preconstruction and bidding through project execution and closeout. This is a full time position based our of our office in Plano, TX (Dallas Fort Worth area). Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist with the preparation of conceptual, budgetary, and detailed construction estimates for retail, restaurant, fuel, convenience store, and commercial projects., • Perform quantity takeoffs from construction drawings, specifications, and project documents., • Review plans and specifications to identify scope requirements, project risks, and potential cost impacts., • Solicit, collect, and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids to support estimate development and bid submissions., • Assist with bid leveling, scope comparisons, and subcontractor/vendor selection recommendations., • Support the preparation of proposals, bid packages, budgets, value engineering analyses, and other preconstruction deliverables., • Maintain subcontractor, supplier, labor, and material cost databases and support market pricing research., • Assist Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, procurement, and construction coordination activities., • Attend project meetings and document key discussions, action items, and project updates., • Track project budgets, committed costs, change orders, and procurement activities throughout the project lifecycle., • Support change management efforts by assisting with pricing requests, cost analysis, and change order documentation., • Maintain project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, drawing logs, meeting minutes, contracts, and project correspondence., • Coordinate and track the distribution of project documents to ensure all parties are working from current revisions., • Assist with subcontractor onboarding, scope reviews, contract administration, and compliance tracking., • Monitor procurement and delivery schedules for materials, equipment, and long-lead items., • Support site teams by helping resolve project issues and facilitating communication between clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders., • Assist with project reporting, cost forecasting, and project closeout documentation., • Coordinate collection of as-built drawings, warranties, operation and maintenance manuals, and other turnover deliverables., • Develop an understanding of Sevan's project delivery processes, estimating best practices, and construction management standards., • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field., • 1-3+ years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience., • Experience with or willingness to learn estimating and construction management software such as BuildingConnected, Procore, Smartsheet, Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar platforms., • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail., • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities., • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment., • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred, or ability to obtain., • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and other Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications: • Internship or co-op experience with a general contractor, construction manager, developer, or consulting firm., • Experience reviewing construction drawings and performing quantity takeoffs., • Exposure to retail, restaurant, fuel, convenience store, grocery, or multi-site construction projects., • Familiarity with estimating principles, construction costs, and subcontractor procurement. Work Conditions & Travel: This is a hybrid in-office role out of our office in Plano, TX with national travel (10% - 20%). Pay & Benefits: The anticipated compensation range for the position is $60,000 - $70,000, is based on a full-time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate on individual education, qualifications, and experience.
