**Host(ess)/Barista** Job Description (Season May 10 - Oct 14, 2024)
The Host/Barista position requires a combination of skills that include providing professional and cheerful guest service, seating and providing the first impression of our restaurant to our guests. Additionally, the Host/Barista is responsible for making fabulous espresso drinks! Hot beverages, including but are not limited to, cappuccinos, lattes, and espressos, are prepared using a traditional espresso machine. Lastly, this person/position also manages take-out orders for the dining room when it is open.
** ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/FUNCTIONS:**
Perform all duties while providing excellent customer service, in a timely manner in a fast paced environment.
Have knowledge or learn quickly, how to use espresso machine and make all hot beverages on the menu. {We are not Starbucks, but we have a few.}
Follow all policies, procedures, and Health Department standards.
Accurately enter all food and beverage items into the POS system {Aloha}; produce, pick up, and serve food/beverages promptly to guests.
Absolutely MUST be able to work as a team member with other dining room and kitchen staff.
Be comfortable with suggesting up-sale ideas by using dining & bar menu knowledge.
Has no issue with asking for proof of age when it is not profoundly obvious.
Maintain cleanliness of lounge and service areas. Ensure work area is orderly and properly stocked.
Collect accurate payment from the guest and depositing the exact amount of sales; ensuring guest satisfaction throughout the transaction.
Works extra shifts and hours as required.
Assists in other areas of the department as needed.

Qualifications
Ability to organize and prioritize under pressure while maintaining a calm and pleasant demeanor.
Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers, and managers.
Ability to absorb large amounts of information quickly.
Execute service procedures, beverage and food menus as appropriate, successfully use Aloha point of sales.
Memorize brands, selections and recipes necessary to be successful in your position.
Knowledge of basic sanitation.
Must be able to stand for long periods, approximately 8 hours.
Must be able to walk for long periods.
Must be able to bend, stretch, and reach for extended periods.
** PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM JOB DUTIES:**
Must be able to understand normal conversation and accurately communicate information. Speak and write clearly in English.
Ability to stand and walk on paved, unpaved, uneven and sometimes slippery surfaces at any point in your day.
Ability to climb stairs for supplies.
Ability to work with extremely hot and/or cold equipment. (i.e., espresso machine, freezers, etc.)
Ability to twist, turn, push, pull, finger, grasp, and reach down, forward and overhead repetitively; Stoop, squat, kneel, and crouch occasionally.
Ability to operate a telephone and a POS system. And multi-task with those pieces of equipment.
Ability to remain standing for extended periods of time.
Must be able to use general cleaning supplies; Grasp, lift, push, pull and use cleaning equipment.
Manual dexterity to grasp and handle cash, coins, paper, phones, etc.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly.
