WHAT YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IN THIS ROLE We are seeking a Shift Manager who wants to be part of the winning team. As a member of the Generous Brands team, a Shift Manager will share oversight of the daily production activities, the development and operations of production leads, equipment operators, and production staff, while identifying opportunities to more efficiently produce great products. The Shift Manager will provide leadership and direction to the plant in all areas of responsibility including production, processing, packaging and safety. The APEX Shift Manager is accountable for production quality; responsibilities also include long and short-range manufacturing planning. The Shift Manager coordinates and directs activities so that approved products are manufactured on schedule and within the desired quality and cost standards. The successful candidate will hold responsibility for executing daily/weekly production schedule for optimal efficiencies. WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR • Create and manage tax calendar for all tax filings and work streams, • Complete and track compliance for various tax filings and manage tax audits in a timely manner, • Business tax for CRV (Cash Redemption Value) in various state and foreign provinces, • Federal and State Income/Franchise/Excise Taxes, • Canadian GST/HST/QST Filings, • Annual Report Filings, • Sugar Tax Filings, • Monthly and Quarterly Sales and Use Tax, • Property Tax Filings (and related fixed asset records), • Annual tax provision and returns – federal, state and foreign, • Coordinate federal, state and foreign tax provision and return workstreams with 3rd party providers, • Gather requested information for tax provisions/returns for 3rd party providers AND review final output, • Ensure tax returns are filed on a timely basis (as well as any payments due), • Compute return to provision for federal, state and foreign, • Write tax memos (summary tax provision, uncertain tax position, valuation allowance and indefinite reinvestment assertion), • Review income tax footnote for financial statements that 3rd party provider prepares, • Research tax issues and implement new authoritative tax guidance in conjunction with 3rd party tax providers, • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, • Provide guidance to management for tax matters, • Research available tax credits and make recommendations to minimize tax liabilities (ie R&D tax credit), • Coordinate and review transfer pricing studies as needed, • Provide current period activity to 3rd party providers for tax fixed asset and intangible records in order to compute depreciation/amortization in accordance with all applicable tax regulations, • Perform monthly tax account reconciliations and rollforwards, • Reconcile and roll forward tax payable/receivable and deferred tax accounts each month on a timely basis, • Track federal, state and foreign tax payments made, • Coordinate and review the preparation of monthly tax journal entries and meeting close deadlines while ensuring the financial information is accurate and accounted for according to GAAP and IRS guidelines, • Ensure that tax invoices / refunds are properly coded and recorded on a timely basis, • Manage Canada border services agency process, • Track and manage unclaimed property, • Other, • Perform as a leader in a complex food / beverage manufacturing facility, providing coaching, support, and direction to members of a developing team., • Provide business and technical leadership necessary to ensure both the department and facility meet and/or exceed goals in critical manufacturing success areas (Cost Management, Sanitation, Systems Utilization, Customer Service, Product Quality, and Health/Safety/Environment)., • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement tools to coach and develop employees to solve problems and eliminate defects., • Conduct regular team meetings, which include effective communication of organizational and policy changes., • Provide performance feedback and coaching to team members via appraisals and/or other documentation., • Track departmental production, and as applicable, take appropriate actions to ensure that departmental goals are achieved., • Work and/or attend meetings during other shifts (including off-shifts and/or weekends), as necessary., • Demonstrates high level of problem solving for manufacturing issues, employee issues, facility improvements, and overall business improvements. Mentors floor supervisors and area leads towards excellent managerial skills and development. Assist in planning and directing production activities and establishes production priorities while ensuring effective operations., • Coordinates production activities with procurement, maintenance, and quality control activities to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment., • Staff, train, evaluate, and develop team members., • Manage line efficiencies, key performance indicators, and down time., • Ensures equipment in the area assigned is in working order, operating conditions meet quality control standards, and that working conditions are safe at all times., • Verify the readiness of the production line at start-up and supervise change overs.
