American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Clinic OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Charleston, South Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: OR - Operating Room, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 04/06/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 10 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 4x10hrs, • Hours: 40 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Apr 6, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Ambulatory OR setting with a pre/post (PACU) area featuring 20 bays, 2 ORs, 2 GI procedural rooms, and 1 VIR procedural room, • Surgical specialties include Ophthalmology, Ortho, ENT, GYN, GU, Endocrine, Surgical Oncology, Plastics, Robotics, and Total Joints — general surgery, L&D, and pediatrics are not performed on this unit, • Pre/post RN responsibilities span both preoperative patient preparation and post-anesthesia recovery, • Works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and OR nurses in a fast-paced environment, • Schedule is 4x10-hour day shifts, 6:30 AM–5:00 PM, with scheduled day off based on department needs; late shifts required a few times per month, • No on-call requirements, • Floating within the perioperative facility is possible based on staffing needs, • Epic EMR is usedRequirements, • Active SC RN license or compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license will be considered but must be fully licensed before starting, • Current AHA BLS certification required, • Minimum 1 year of OR experience required, • Experience across multiple surgical specialties aligned with the unit's caseload is required (e.g., Ortho, Robotics, Total Joints, Surgical Oncology, GYN, GU, ENT, Endocrine, Plastics, Ophthalmology), • SSN and Driver's License required for consideration, • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration, • A radiation badge must be provided by the staffing agencyAdditional Information, • Pre-op duties include reviewing patient history, reconciling home medications, obtaining vital signs and EKGs as applicable, starting IVs, collecting FSBS, and administering IV fluids, antibiotics, and pre-op medications as ordered, • Post-anesthesia recovery duties include monitoring vital signs through phases of PACU care, reviewing discharge instructions, and discharging patients via wheelchair to their vehicle, • Online modules must be completed prior to the start date, • First-time travelers are not accepted for this position, • Candidates who have worked as permanent staff or PRN at any MUSC location must have been separated from the system for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler, • Local candidates (within 60 miles of the facility) are accepted; non-local candidates are given priority consideration With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
