American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Salem, Oregon. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/12/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 48 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a neurotrauma care unit within a short-term acute care, teaching, Level II Trauma Center hospital, • Patient population includes adults with brain or nervous system disorders such as MS, Parkinson’s disease, brain tumors, traumatic brain injuries, meningitis, encephalitis, strokes, and spinal injuries, • Unit is a 30-bed Neurotrauma Care Unit (NTCU) on the seventh floor, • Typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4, • Night shift position with 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:30, • Floating may be required within scope, including to a nearby sister hospital, • Epic EMR is used and experience is required, • Locals are accepted at the same rate, • Primary responsibilities include advanced neurotrauma and telemetry patient care, swallow screening, and spine immobilization, • The unit holds Joint Commission Stroke Center and Spine Center of Excellence certifications, • No first-time travelers accepted for this position, • Royal blue scrubs are required, • Free parking is available, • Return staff must have at least a 6-month gap before being eligible to return as travelers, • Strict RTO policy: all time-off requests must be submitted up front and are not changeable after submission, • Holiday and every other weekend coverage are required\n \n Requirements\n, • Active and in-hand Oregon RN license required, • 1 year of recent experience within the last 3 years in MS/Telemetry/PCU; PCU and neuro stepdown experience with NIHSS certification preferred, • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association required, • Experience with telemetry monitoring, interpretation of cardiac rhythms, and management of cardiac drips such as nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, and Nicardipine, • Proficiency in non-invasive airway management, peripheral line management, rapid response team activation, and dysrhythmia management, • Strong computerized documentation skills, • Experience with O2 protocol and isolation precautions/PPE, • Epic charting experience required, • COVID vaccination required, no exemptions\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
