Position Summary The Quality Manager is responsible for building, leading, and scaling the companys quality function in a fast-paced startup environment. This role oversees Quality Inspectors, Quality Testers, and future quality personnel, ensuring all products meet internal standards, customer expectations, and applicable regulatory requirements. This leader will establish and maintain a compliant Quality Management System aligned with ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 standards and support DoD program requirements, while driving a culture of quality, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization. Responsibilities • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing quality team, including Quality Inspectors, Quality Testers, and future hires as the company scales., • Establish and implement a scalable Quality Management System (QMS) aligned with ISO 9001 / AS9100 standards and applicable DoD and federal contracting requirements., • Oversee all inspection and testing employees and activities (incoming, in-process, and final) to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and contractual requirements., • Ensure adherence to customer, regulatory, and government quality requirements, including documentation, traceability, and configuration control., • Lead internal audits, support external/customer/government audits, and ensure audit readiness at all times., • Drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and root cause analysis for nonconformances., • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering and Production to improve product quality, manufacturability, and reliability., • Develop, track, and report quality KPIs and metrics to leadership., • Ensure proper calibration and control of inspection and test equipment., • Support new product introduction (NPI) to ensure quality is built into processes from the start., • Create and maintain quality documentation, including procedures, work instructions, and records required for compliance., • Train employees on quality standards, processes, and compliance requirements., • Foster a startup-minded culture of ownership, speed, and continuous improvement without compromising quality or compliance., • Other duties as assigned. Skills & Competencies • Must be a U.S. citizen, • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or AS9100 standards and implementation., • Proficiency in root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)., • Experience with inspection tools, testing equipment, and calibration systems., • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills., • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills., • Ability to build processes from the ground up and scale them effectively., • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical documentation., • Experience supporting DoD, government, or defense-related quality requirements., • Strong leadership experience in a startup or high-growth environment. Qualifications • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)., • 8+ years of experience in quality assurance/quality control., • Experience in aerospace, defense, manufacturing, or similar regulated industry strongly preferred., • Prior leadership or supervisory experience required., • Experience with government contracts, FAR/DFARS, or DoD programs preferred., • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to meet federal program requirements. Physical Requirements • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit for extended periods of time, and reach with hands and arms, • Frequent movement between three buildings; may require walking, standing, and occasional lifting, • Ability to respond to after-hours emergencies if needed, • The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear, • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus, • Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders, • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
