Job Description About Our Organization: EnCompass: Resources for Learning is a nonprofit organization established in 2004 by families, educators, and community leaders to meet the needs of Rochester students. Today, EnCompass provides 2,400 students and their families, annually, with a cradle-to-career pathway of academic, wraparound, college and career-readiness, and job training and placement services. Job Summary: The EnCompass: Resources for Learning Transportation Coordinator is responsible for overseeing transportation needs for afterschool and summer programs and field trips. The Transportation Coordinator will coordinate routing, oversee a team of part-time drivers, and maintain close communication with EnCompass staff, students, family members, and contracted transportation providers. Job Responsibilities: • Coordinate routing for EnCompass vans and third party buses transporting students in EnCompass affiliated programs., • Utilize School Bus Manager, MS Excel, Outlook, Word, campus printers, and other technology to efficiently create and distribute routes and schedules to van drivers, bus drivers, and EnCompass program staff., • Supervise and create schedules for part-time van drivers who transport students to and from field trips and after-school programs., • Liaises with third party transportation providers to book and change reservations., • Communicate effectively with parents/families regarding anticipated student pick-up and drop-off times, making and fielding phone calls, escalating concerns when appropriate., • Collaborate with EnCompass program staff to ensure routes are optimized for the needs of the program and individual students., • Maintain confidentiality and compliance with FERPA in working with sensitive student information., • Clean EnCompass vehicles as necessary to maintain a positive organizational image., • Conduct informal pre and post-trip inspections of EnCompass vans to ensure safe operation of all vehicles, reporting any issues or concerns to the Program Operations Manager and Safety Officer. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong verbal communications skills, • Adaptability and professionalism in all situations, • Strong planning and time-management skills, • Ability to work efficiently and stay on schedule with minimal supervision, • Ability to use a variety of computer programs and software and understand route sheets and maps Qualifications: • Must have a valid NYS Drivers License. Scheduling: • School Year:, • Monday - Thursday 12:00 - 6:00pm (24 hours per week regularly; up to 30 hours per week at supervisor’s discretion)., • Preferably with the flexibility to work mornings on RCSD school break days/weeks., • Summer Break:, • Availability to work two shifts per week (roughly 12 hours total) during RCSD summer break., • Accessible for phone and text communication on occasional evenings and weekends for scheduling and in case of emergencies.
