Ensure safe loading, handling, and transportation of materials and heavy cargo. Drive truck to destination applying commercial driving regulations and skill in maneuvering vehicle in difficult situations. Complete necessary paper work and relay any customer questions or complaints to supervisor. Inspect truck for any defects or problems that might arise after and after trips and submit reports indicating truck condition. Maintain vehicle in safe operating condition including service with fuel, oil, and water. Maintain logs and records according to D.O.T. regulations. Assist associates in loading and unloading trucks or building loads as needed. Secure cargo for transit. Maintain a clean truck. Maintain good housekeeping in work area. Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, quality, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Basic Qualifications: HS Diploma, GED or two (2) years equivalent work experience. Must have a valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL) and possess the ability to safely operate transportation equipment in city roadways (i.e., tractor/trailer combinations). Two (2) years truck driving experience required. Must have experience driving a flatbed with a Moffit and handling product with a Moffit lift. Must have working knowledge of DOT regulations and meet BC driver qualifications. Performs duties in all weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications: Flatbed experience preferred. This position involves operating vacuum trucks and tankers on local routes, supporting industrial cleaning projects, waste recovery operations, and transportation of non-hazardous and regulated materials. Drivers are home daily and work closely with field crews to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently. Position Summary The Class A / B Driver / Vacuum Truck Operator is responsible for safely operating vacuum trucks and tanker equipment while servicing industrial facilities throughout New Jersey and surrounding areas. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center is seeking a Production Assistant (Truck Driver) to complete driving routes for pickup and/or drop off of donations at the warehouse, assigned donation boxes, and at donor homes. Duties: • Responsible for the security and safe operation of the vehicle and other assigned equipment. Promptly report, to immediate supervisor, all accidents involving truck, personal injury, or property damage and complete all necessary paperwork., • Perform daily walk around inspection of vehicle, checking air, water, oil and other items to maintain equipment in good operating condition. Report any problems immediately to the supervisor., • Ensure truck cab and box are clean and personal items are removed daily., • Plan daily routing based on pick-ups assigned and make all calls scheduled, including boxes., • Responsible for developing of assigned route, including bagging or carding on both sides and across the street of each pick-up, as instructed., • You are a personal representative of The Salvation Army., • You are therefore to ensure that all customers are treated courteously, donations are accepted or refused appropriately, and the “Manual for Production Assistants” is strictly followed. Keep in mind that the Truck Helper is in a rehabilitation program and that good habits are taught by example as well as instruction., • This position will support the work therapy program component of The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers by providing to beneficiaries; an example of professional conduct, work habits, and supervision (as directed by Supervisor)., • Other duties as may be assigned by immediate supervisor and/or Administrator.
