American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN PCU - Progressive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Kansas City, Missouri. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: PCU - Progressive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/15/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, days, • Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a tertiary care hospital, • Care for complex post-operative thoracic and vascular surgery patients, including CABG, valve replacements, aortic repairs, and more, • Patient ratio is typically 1:4, • Treat adults with multiple co-morbidities such as advanced heart failure, ESRD, and diabetes, • Expected to work day shifts (3x12 hours, 6:45am–7:15pm), • Required to work 8 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule, including a mix of Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed by the unit, • Floating required within the service line and to all MICC units as needed, • Epic EMR is used; Epic experience preferred, • No call required, • Navy scrubs are required, • Responsibilities include post-operative care for thoracic and vascular surgery patients, complex wound management, blood product administration, and pain management, • Care provided for patients with chest tubes, epicardial wires, temporary pacemakers, and a variety of IV drips, • Level 1 Trauma, Magnet-recognized, and teaching hospital environment, • Infusion pump and glucometer training must be completed before starting, • Pre-start Epic training required; option to test out or complete the module, • Orientation modules and labs must be completed prior to start, • Drug screening required with zero tolerance for positive or diluted results, • No travel partners accepted for these assignments, • Up to 7 days of RTO may be requested, • Facility may offer hire without interview; interview may be requested if preferred, • Free parking is provided on-site, • First-time travelers are welcome to apply\n \n Requirements\n, • Active MO or compact RN license in hand, • Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Stepdown/IMC/DOU nursing experience, • At least 1 year of in-specialty experience within the past 12 months with no gap greater than 90 days, • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias and respond to rapid response calls, • Proficiency with cardiac monitoring, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips, and management of post-op cardiac surgical patients, • Skilled in central and peripheral line management, pacemakers (temporary/permanent), chest tubes, wound vac use, tracheostomy management, and feeding tube care, • Experience with Epic EMR strongly preferred, • Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted, • Two professional references from the last year—one from a supervisor and one from a charge RN or higher—are required, • Pending licenses not accepted; all licenses must be valid at time of consideration\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
