Job Description Position Summary: The BMoC Niagara Falls Program Supervisor’s primary duty is to work in concert with the BMoC initiative goals while implementing the Breaking Barriers Youth Leadership Council mentoring and empowerment curriculum in Niagara Falls Public Schools. The BMoC Niagara Falls Program Supervisor will be responsible for working directly with the Senior Director, Youth Sports Management Supervisor of the BMoC Initiative, and school administration and staff within the Niagara Falls Public School District. This position will assist with programmatic management and implementing and maintaining the Breaking Barriers Youth Leadership Council (BBYLC). They will work within established policy, programmatic, data, and structural capacity development areas/strategies. In addition to the BMoC Initiative responsibilities, the BMoC Niagara Falls Program Supervisor will enhance, lead, and implement the Breaking Barriers mentoring and empowerment curriculum in schools and convene community partners for the overall BMoC programmatic functions. The position will entail researching and building programming for those interested in sport management and administration, providing education, life skills, soft skills, goal setting, mental health, and pathways in financial management, and career exploration. For new hires, residency within the City of Niagara Falls must be established within six months of the date of appointment unless otherwise specified. This requirement is intended to strengthen the connection between employees and the community they serve, fostering a commitment to the city's growth and well-being. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Continually researching best practices around mentoring and supporting students, • Make presentations to students, parents, Niagara Falls School building staff, community partners, and community groups, • Prepare, plan, and facilitate Breaking Barriers mentoring and empowerment curriculum, and participate in community activities as needed, • Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and training youth to serve on the Breaking Barriers Youth Leadership Council., • Organize activities that provide leadership development opportunities, identify guest speakers, training, workshops, community events, and more., • Provide ongoing support and guidance to student program participants and families, • Creating and coordinating program scheduling with Niagara Falls administration and school staff, • Participate in the exploration of community collaborations and connecting students and families to other supplemental support services, resources, employment, and extracurricular activities that may assist them in reaching their personal goals., • Document proven progress and track participant data in the program, such as academic performance, disciplinary records, attendance, college matriculation, year-over-year persistence rates, and program impact., • Assist in developing, implementing, collecting, and maintaining program data and the evaluation process., • Develop and maintain positive relationships with education, business, government, schools, and community organizations and leaders, • Works with Niagara Falls School District and community partners to establish and maintain a supportive structure and build additional relationships to ensure the continued success of the BMoC Initiative., • Developing local, regional, national, and international partnerships, enhancing the program, • Work in conjunction with other Say Yes Buffalo programmatic functions as required, such as special events, to support the program., • Assess the program's impact related to the goals of the Buffalo community and program partners., • Assist with direction and support around BMoC communications and narrative change work., • Attend various work-related collaborative meetings., • Assist in maintaining and establishing data protocols and infrastructure governing the BMoC workflow., • Bachelor's degree with equivalent training and experience in a discipline related to the functional responsibilities of the position, including youth program management and a background in program/youth development or mentoring-related areas., • Knowledge and experience working in the community, education, business, and sports management arenas., • High interest in promoting the mission of the BMoC Initiative and the Breaking Barriers Youth Leadership Council, • This position requires training program participants and attendance at events, which requires flexibility in work hours., • Experience and capacity in recruiting and engaging volunteers., • Understanding of issues and developmental assets required for the success of BMoC., • Must have excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills., • Experience organizing and supervising projects with detail and integrity., • Demonstrate the ability to work independently and with a minimum amount of supervision., • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to effectively work with and interact with diverse individuals and groups of students., • Experience with Google Suite, Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Word proficiency, • Ability to resolve problems efficiently, effectively, and independently., • Valid New York State driver's license Employees in this position must establish and maintain their principal residence within the City of Niagara Falls. Proof of residency may be required at the time of appointment and periodically thereafter to ensure compliance. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
