The Role: Country Financial Controller 📍 Location: Spain, Madrid is preferable 🗣️ Languages: Spanish: fluent; English C1; French B2 is a plus ✅ Eligibility: Currently living in Spain be legally authorized to work there 🧑 Your Profile Education & Certifications • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration ., • Professional certification ( CPA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent ) is a strong plus. Professional Experience • 8–12+ years of experience in finance, controlling, or financial management roles., • Proven experience as Financial Controller, Senior Controller, or Finance Manager ., • Background in project-based, people-driven environments (engineering, consulting, professional services, construction, EPC, or similar)., • Hands-on experience managing multi-project P&L , cost control, and long-term contracts., • Experience working with €30M+ entities or complex multi-entity structures. Technical & Financial Skills • Strong knowledge of Spanish GAAP and IFRS ., • Solid understanding of revenue recognition models (percentage of completion, milestones, T&M)., • Advanced expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modeling ., • Strong command of working capital management , cash flow forecasting, and DSO optimization., • Good knowledge of Spanish tax regulations (Corporate Tax, VAT, withholding taxes)., • Experience with internal controls, audits, and external advisors ., • High level of proficiency in ERP systems and financial reporting tools (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics, or similar)., • Advanced Excel / financial modeling skills (yes, still unavoidable 😅). Leadership & Business Partnering • Proven experience managing and developing finance teams (6–10 people) ., • Strong business partnering skills with Project Managers, Technical Leads, and Senior Management ., • Ability to translate financial data into clear, actionable insights for non-finance stakeholders., • Comfortable supporting commercial decisions, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations ., • Experience driving process improvement and finance digitalization initiatives . Language Requirements • English: Fluent / Professional working proficiency (mandatory) – daily interaction with group finance and international stakeholders., • French: Professional proficiency (preferred) – strong asset in group-level communication and cross-country collaboration., • Spanish: Native or fluent 🛠️ What You’ll Be Doing: • You´ll lead all financial operations for the Spanish entity of a multinational engineering consulting firm, managing a business of approximately €40M turnover ., • This role sits right at the crossroads of finance, projects, and strategy . You’ll ensure rock-solid financial governance, deep project-level profitability control, and full compliance with Spanish and group regulations—while acting as a trusted business partner to technical leaders and senior management., • In a people-driven, project-based environment with long delivery cycles, your insights will directly influence margins, investment decisions, and sustainable growth., • In short: numbers matter, but context matters more.
