Clinical Psychologist Job Description Job Title: Clinical Psychologist Reports To: Clinical Lead / Head of Psychology Services Job Purpos eTo provide high-quality psychological assessment, formulation, intervention, and consultation services to individuals experiencing emotional, behavioural, mental health, or developmental difficulties. The Clinical Psychologist will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, carers, and external agencies to promote positive outcomes and psychological wellbeing .Key Responsibilitie sClinical Assessment and Interventio • nConduct comprehensive psychological assessments using interviews, psychometric tests, observations, and review of records, • .Develop evidence-based psychological formulations to understand presenting difficulties, • .Deliver individual, group, and family-based psychological interventions, • .Design and implement treatment plans tailored to individual needs, • .Monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes, adjusting interventions as required .Therapeutic Service • sProvide evidence-based therapies such as, • :Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT, • )Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT, • )Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT, • )Trauma-informed intervention, • sSystemic and family therapie, • sSupport individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioural difficulties, neurodevelopmental disorders, and other mental health conditions .Consultation and Multidisciplinary Workin • gWork collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, support workers, and other professionals, • .Provide psychological consultation and advice to staff, carers, and partner agencies, • .Contribute to care planning and risk management processes .Risk Assessment and Safeguardin • gUndertake risk assessments relating to self-harm, suicide, abuse, neglect, and challenging behaviour, • .Participate in safeguarding procedures and child/adult protection processes, • .Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional and legal requirements .Training and Supervisio • nProvide training and psychoeducation to staff, families, and carers, • .Offer clinical supervision to assistant psychologists, trainees, and other staff where appropriate, • .Support the development of psychologically informed services .Service Development and Researc • hParticipate in service evaluation, audit, and quality improvement initiatives, • .Contribute to research projects and implementation of evidence-based practice, • .Assist in developing policies, procedures, and clinical pathways .Qualification sEssentia • lDoctorate in Clinical Psychology (DClinPsy or equivalent), • .Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), • .Eligibility for membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS), • .Post-qualification experience working with relevant client groups .Desirabl • eAdditional specialist training in evidence-based therapeutic approaches, • .Experience in leadership, supervision, or service development, • .Experience working within multidisciplinary healthcare settings .Knowledge and Skill sEssentia • lStrong assessment, formulation, and intervention skills, • .Knowledge of psychological models and evidence-based treatments, • .Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, • .Ability to manage complex clinical presentations, • .Understanding of safeguarding and risk management, • .Competence in report writing and maintaining clinical records .Desirabl • eExperience with neuropsychological assessments, • .Knowledge of trauma-informed care, • .Experience delivering staff training and supervision .Personal Attribute • sCompassionate and person-centred approach, • .Strong ethical and professional standards, • .Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • .Resilient and adaptable in challenging situations, • .Commitment to continuous professional development .Typical Working Environment sClinical Psychologists may work in • :NHS service, • sMental health hospital, • sCommunity mental health team, • sChildren's services (CAMHS, • )Learning disability service, • sRehabilitation centre, • sResidential care setting, • sPrivate practic, • eEducational setting sKey Performance Indicators (KPIs • )Timely completion of assessments and reports, • .Positive treatment outcomes and service-user satisfaction, • .Compliance with HCPC and organisational standards, • .Contribution to multidisciplinary care planning, • .Participation in audits, research, and service improvement activities .
