Senior Projects Officer 24 Month Fixed Term Contract Salary: £30,519 - £31,537 Hours: 37 hours per week Closing date: 24 April 2026 This new and exciting role supports Salisbury City Councils Chief Executive Officer, Senior Management Team and Officers in effectively and efficiently co-ordinating special projects across council services (i.e. multi-portfolio projects). A key objective of the role is to source and increase non-precept income for Capital and Revenue Projects through grants. This is a self-funded role, which means it is expected to generate sufficient income for the council to fully offset its salary costs. What you'll be responsible for: • Researching and coordinating consultation documents, ensuring accurate and timely completion and filing. * Supporting the CEO and senior leadership in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and relationship-building with councils and partner organisations. * Identifying and developing funding opportunities, including grants, partnerships, and new income streams. * Preparing and submitting high-quality bids and funding applications in collaboration with senior management. * Providing comprehensive administrative support, including diary management, meeting coordination, and minute-taking for senior leaders. Person Specifications: We are looking for the following, Essential Criteria • Experience of providing effective administrative and organisational support within a complex or politically sensitive environment, including working with senior managers, elected members or equivalent decision‑makers and handling confidential information appropriately. * Strong organisational and time‑management skills, with the ability to plan work, prioritise competing demands, support meetings or projects, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision. * Excellent communication skills, including producing clear, accurate meeting notes or minutes, reports and briefings that capture key information, decisions and actions for a range of audiences. * Political awareness and understanding of local government, including governance arrangements, the respective roles of councillors and officers, and the importance of neutrality in a politically led organisation. * Knowledge of public sector standards and accountability, including confidentiality, data protection, transparency, and value for money when working with information, funding or partnerships. * Strong interpersonal and professional skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, members of the public and external stakeholders. * Confidence in using standard IT systems, such as Microsoft Office, to support document production, information management, electronic communication and research activities. * Relevant qualifications (minimum NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and 3-5 GCSE's) Desirable • Experience of researching funding opportunities and contributing to grant or funding bids, including familiarity with grant application processes and, ideally, training in grant or bid writing. * Good understanding of local government, including governance arrangements, systems and organisational processes. * Strong verbal communication skills, including confidence in speaking in public to audiences of varying sizes and contexts. * Experience of working with external organisations, such as consultants, contractors or funding bodies, in a professional or organisational setting. * Relevant qualifications, such as degree‑level education and/or professional local government qualifications (e.g. iLCA or CiLCA).
