Electrical System Technical Lead 📍 Peterborough, Cambridgeshire |💰Salary: £47.03 p/h | 📅 12-month contract 🕐 Hours: 37 hours/week Mon–Thurs: 08:30–16:45 Fri: 08:30–16:00 The Opportunity We’re looking for an experienced Electrical System Technical Lead to join a growing electrification team in Peterborough. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys fast-paced, hands-on engineering, where ideas move quickly from concept to build, and into customer trials. Rather than waiting years for products to launch, you’ll be involved in multiple short projects, exploring new approaches, testing ideas, and seeing your work come to life in real machines. It’s a varied and exciting role where no two weeks are the same. What you’ll be doing • Lead the specification, design and validation of high and low voltage electrical systems., • Define and own the electrical system architecture (battery modules, packs and power systems)., • Work closely with suppliers, validation teams, and software engineers to ensure compatibility., • Oversee CAD design, schematics, harnessing, cable design and routing., • Manage technical and timing plans, ensuring deliverables are met., • Troubleshoot and resolve development issues, keeping projects on track., • Stay current with emerging technologies, testing methods, and legislation. What we’re looking for ✅ Essential • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Computer Engineering (or related)., • 5+ years’ experience in electrical systems or high-voltage battery pack design & development., • Strong knowledge of HV/LV power electronics., • Background in electric vehicle electrical system design (fuses, contactors, cabling)., • Problem-solving and planning skills with a proactive mindset., • Familiarity with CPPD, APQP and Six Sigma., • CREO (3D CAD, harnessing, routing) experience., • Automotive software tools such as Vector CANape or CANalyzer., • Understanding of CAN communication protocols (CAN 2.0a J1939, isoSPI)., • Knowledge of EMC compliance testing.
