Primary Mental Health Assistant - Stroud Salary: £90 - £110 per day (dependent on experience) Location: Stroud Job Type: Full-time Hours: Full Time (8:30am - 4:00pm) Start Date: ASAP Are you passionate about supporting young people's mental health and wellbeing? Are you looking to gain hands-on experience within a mainstream education setting supporting students with additional needs? Academics are currently recruiting for a Primary Mental Health Assistant to join a primary school in Stroud. This rewarding role involves supporting students with a range of social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, alongside a range of complex needs, autism and associated learning differences, within a supportive environment. This opportunity is ideal for graduates or individuals considering future careers in psychology, therapy, counselling, teaching, or youth work who are looking to build meaningful experience working directly with young people. The Role - Primary Mental Health Assistant - Stroud • Support students with emotional regulation, wellbeing, and engagement in learning, • Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs, • Assist with behaviour strategies and promote positive coping mechanisms, • Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment, • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach, • Experience supporting SEN, SEMH, or challenging behaviour, • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, • Interest in mental health, SEN, and child development, • Psychology, counselling, education, or related background desirable, • Opportunity to work within a specialist setting in Stroud, • Hands-on experience supporting students with SEMH and additional needs, • Ideal stepping stone for aspiring psychologists, therapists, or teachers, • Competitive daily pay rates, • Ongoing support from a dedicated education consultantIdeal Backgrounds (not essential), • Psychology graduates or related degrees, • Youth work / support work / care background, • Experience in PRUs, alternative provision, or specialist settings, • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply) Primary Mental Health Assistant - Stroud
