The opportunity As Assistant Accountant, you will play a key role in supporting the effective financial management of the business. Working closely with the Director of Finance & Operations, you will help deliver accurate financial information, maintain strong financial controls and provide insight that supports confident decision-making across the organisation. This role would suit someone who enjoys combining hands-on finance work with analysis, problem-solving and business partnering. You will be trusted to manage important financial processes, contribute ideas and help ensure the finance function continues to operate accurately, efficiently and professionally. What you’ll be doing · Preparing monthly management accounts, reporting packs, balance sheet reconciliations and supporting cash flow analysis. · Producing variance analysis against budgets and forecasts, highlighting trends and insight. · Supporting annual budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and business planning activities. · Processing monthly payroll with the external payroll provider, including PAYE, pensions, statutory payments, commissions and bonuses. · Supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, supplier payment processes and debtor and creditor reconciliations. · Assisting with cash flow forecasting, bank balance monitoring and liquidity management. · Maintaining effective financial controls, accurate financial records and appropriate compliance standards. · Identifying opportunities to improve systems, reporting, automation and finance processes. · Providing financial insight and support to colleagues across the business. About you You will be a confident and reliable finance professional who takes pride in accuracy, confidentiality and delivering high-quality work. You will enjoy working collaboratively, explaining financial information clearly and using data to support better decisions. · Part-qualified accountant with a minimum of three years’ experience, such as ACCA, CIMA, ACA or AAT Level 4. · Experience in an accounting role, ideally within financial services, professional services or an SME environment. · Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports. · Payroll administration experience, including PAYE, pensions and statutory payments. · Strong Excel skills and experience using accounting software. · Excellent attention to detail, analytical ability and problem-solving skills. · Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and manage confidential information with discretion. · Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information to non-finance colleagues.
