Job Title: Assistant Planner Location: Stevenage Reporting To: Pre-Construction Director Salary: Up to £50,000 + Car Allowance + Package Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Planner to join a dynamic pre-construction team based in Stevenage, supporting the successful delivery of new build projects across the education and healthcare sectors. This role offers excellent exposure to complex schemes from early-stage planning through to project delivery, working closely with senior stakeholders. Key Responsibilities • Assist in the preparation, development, and maintenance of detailed project programmes, • Support tender planning activities, including programme development, phasing, and methodology input, • Work alongside the Pre-Construction Director and wider team to develop realistic and achievable construction schedules, • Monitor project progress and provide updates, highlighting risks, delays, and opportunities, • Contribute to the production of logistics plans and sequencing strategies, • Review subcontractor programmes and integrate them into the main programme, • Support the use of planning software (e.g., Asta Powerproject, Primavera P6, or similar), • Assist in reporting progress to internal and external stakeholders, • Previous experience in a planning or construction-related role (site, engineering, or project coordination experience considered), • Understanding of construction processes, particularly within new build environments, • Interest or experience in education and/or healthcare projects is advantageous, • Familiarity with planning software (training can be provided), • Strong analytical and organisational skills, • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively, • Salary up to £50,000 depending on experience, • Car allowance, • Comprehensive benefits package, • Structured career progression and development opportunities, • Exposure to high-quality, meaningful projects within the public sector This role is ideal for an ambitious individual looking to develop a career in construction planning, gaining hands-on experience across pre-construction and live project environments while contributing to impactful education and healthcare developments.
