Walker Sime is recruiting for an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver strategically significant defence programmes in Barrow-in-Furness. This onsite role provides the opportunity to manage complex, high-profile projects while working closely with senior commercial, technical, and delivery teams. The successful candidate will bring defence sector experience, strong NEC contract knowledge, and a proven ability to deliver projects on time, on budget, and to specification within highly regulated and secure environments. Key Responsibilities • Manage and deliver assigned defence projects from initiation to completion, ensuring compliance with NEC3/NEC4 contracts, • Monitor project progress, including programme delivery, budgets, and risk management, • Produce and maintain project documentation, including reports, valuations, and forecasts, • Manage project stakeholders, including internal teams, subcontractors, and client representatives, • Support commercial management, including compensation events, early warnings, and contract correspondence, • Lead day-to-day project operations, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, • Drive continuous improvement and best practice across project delivery, • Assist in escalation of issues, risks, or conflicts to senior leadership as required Essential Experience & Skills • Proven project management experience within the defence or aerospace sectors, • Strong working knowledge and practical application of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts, • Demonstrated ability to manage medium to large-scale, high-value projects, • Commercially aware with experience in cost control, forecasting, and risk management, • Excellent organisational, analytical, and problem-solving skills, • Strong communication skills, confident liaising with senior stakeholders, • Proficient in MS Office and project reporting tools Security Requirements • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain UK Security Clearance Desirable Experience • Experience working onsite with major defence clients or highly regulated environments, • Familiarity with programme management software (Primavera P6, Aconex, Deltek, or equivalent), • Knowledge of multi-disciplinary project delivery in complex environments, • Professional membership or qualifications (APM, RICS, ICE, CIOB, or equivalent Qualifications • Degree in Project Management, Engineering, Construction, Commercial Management, or related discipline, • PRINCE2, MSP, or equivalent project management qualification advantageous, • NEC Accreditation desirable
