Grounds Maintenance Operative (6-Month Temporary Contract)Location: Ashford Salary: £12.50 per hour PAYE | £16.00 per hour LTD Inc HolidayHours: 42.5 hours per weekAbout the Role Service Care Solutions are currently recruiting for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to join their Local Authority clients green team on an initial 6-month temporary contract. This is a hands-on role supporting the upkeep and presentation of the borough, ensuring public spaces are safe, clean, and maintained to a high standard. You will contribute to a wide range of activities including grounds maintenance, street works, cleansing duties, and support for local events.Please note: This role involves driving as part of daily duties, therefore a full UK driving license is essential.Key Responsibilities • Carry out grounds maintenance duties including grass cutting, hedge trimming, and general upkeep, • Undertake street cleansing and environmental maintenance tasks, • Drive company vehicles between sites as required, • Operate machinery and equipment safely and effectively, • Ensure all work meets required standards and follows work instructions, • Complete and return all necessary paperwork accurately and on time, • Support local events, elections, and emergency planning activities, • Maintain tools, plant, and equipment, ensuring they are safe and secure, • Follow all Health & Safety procedures and report any hazards or incidents, • Provide a professional and helpful service to members of the public, • Work flexibly, including early starts, late finishes, and occasional weekendsWhat We are Looking ForEssential:, • Full UK driving license (required as driving is a key part of the role), • Good literacy and communication skills, • Previous hands-on experience in grounds maintenance, • Ability to safely operate grounds maintenance machinery, • A proactive, reliable, and flexible approach, • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure, • Team player with a positive attitudeDesirable:, • NPTC PA1 & PA6 spraying certificates, • NVQ Level 2 in Horticulture (or similar)Additional Information, • You will be expected to follow all council policies including Health & Safety, Safeguarding, Equality, and Data Protection, • The role may involve supporting emergency response and business continuity activities, • Training opportunities will be provided where requiredWhy Join Us?
