We are seeking an experienced Site Manager with proven delivery experience on Ministry of Justice (Ministry of Justice) projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all on-site activities, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with MOJ standards, prison/security protocols, and government construction frameworks. Key Responsibilities: • Manage day-to-day site operations from mobilisation through to handover, • Ensure strict compliance with MOJ security requirements, including controlled access procedures and escorting protocols where applicable, • Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, suppliers, and site logistics, • Maintain programme delivery, reporting progress against milestones and recovery plans where necessary, • Enforce health, safety, and environmental standards, ensuring full compliance with CDM Regulations, • Liaise with MOJ representatives, prison authorities, consultants, and client stakeholders, • Manage permits, RAMS (Risk Assessments and Method Statements), and site documentation, • Conduct site inductions and toolbox talks, • Monitor quality control and ensure works meet specification and government standards, • Identify and resolve site issues proactively to avoid programme delays, • Oversee site reporting, including daily logs, progress reports, and compliance records Essential Requirements: • Proven experience as a Site Manager on MOJ or secure government projects (prisons, courts, custodial facilities), • Strong understanding of security-cleared environments and controlled access sites, • Valid SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme), • CSCS Black Card (or equivalent management-level qualification), • First Aid at Work certification, • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and UK construction health & safety legislation, • Experience managing subcontractors on complex, high-security projects, • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, • Ability to obtain or hold relevant security clearance (e.g., BPSS/SC depending on project) Desirable Experience: • Delivery of refurbishment or new build works within operational prisons or live secure environments, • Experience working under NEC or other public sector contracts, • Familiarity with MOJ technical standards and compliance frameworks, • Strong planning and programming skills (e.g., Asta Powerproject or MS Project) Personal Attributes: • High level of integrity and professionalism (essential for secure environments), • Calm under pressure and able to make decisions in restricted-access environments, • Strong leadership and team coordination skills, • Detail-oriented with a focus on compliance and safety
