As we scale, we are building a specialist workshop team focused on quality, precision, and craftsmanship. \n \n Joining Nomadic at this stage offers a rare opportunity to shape the future of a growing watchmaking operation, influence how a modern workshop is built, and help develop the next generation of watchmakers in Belfast. \n \n \n Role Overview \n You will be the technical leader within the workshop, providing expertise, stability, and mentorship to a growing watchmaking team. \n You will act as the primary escalation point for complex technical issues, oversee service and repair operations, develop workshop standards, and support the introduction of new products into production. \n This role combines hands-on watchmaking with technical leadership, training, continuous improvement, and operational support. You will play a key role in ensuring Nomadic's workshop capability grows in line with the company's ambitious plans. \n \n \n Key Responsibilities \n Technical Leadership \n\n • Act as the primary technical escalation point for assembly and watchmaking issues\n, • Conduct root cause analysis of recurring defects and failures\n, • Refine, maintain, and improve assembly standards\n, • Create and maintain technical Standard Work Instructions\n, • Establish best-practice assembly and servicing methodologies\n, • Support implementation of continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop\n\n \n \n Training & Competency \n\n • Train and mentor Assembly Watchmakers and Service Technicians\n, • Conduct competency assessments and identify skills gaps\n, • Create development plans aligned with recognised industry watchmaking pathways\n, • Certify team members on new products, processes, and equipment\n, • Deliver toolbox talks, technical briefings, and workshop training sessions\n, • Support onboarding of new Watchmaking staff\n\n \n \n Quality & Continuous Improvement \n\n • Lead corrective actions relating to assembly and quality defects\n, • Investigate supplier-related defects impacting production\n, • Maintain assembly tool calibration and verification systems\n, • Participate in PFMEA\n, • Drive improvements in First Pass Yield, quality performance, and workshop efficiency\n, • Support implementation of in process validation and defect reduction initiatives\n\n \n \n Production Support & New Product Introduction \n\n • Support workload balancing and technical resource planning within the workshop\n, • Evaluate new components and assemblies before release to production\n, • Support prototype, pilot, and NPI builds\n, • Validate production readiness prior to product launches\n, • Support manufacturing documentation and production control processes\n\n \n \n Supplier & Component Support \n\n • Conduct technical review of supplier quality issues\n, • Participate in supplier corrective action activities\n, • Review prototype samples and provide technical feedback\n, • Define acceptance criteria for inbound components\n, • Support supplier development and quality improvement initiatives\n\n \n \n Skills & Experience \n Essential \n\n • Minimum 5 years' professional watchmaking experience\n, • WOSTEP, BHI, or equivalent recognised horological qualification\n, • Proven experience servicing and regulating mechanical watch movements\n, • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability\n, • Experience developing or improving workshop processes and standards\n, • Experience training, mentoring, or supervising other watchmakers\n, • Strong understanding of quality management and continuous improvement principles\n, • Computer literacy with the ability to create technical documentation and standard operating procedures\n, • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills\n\n Desirable \n\n • Experience within a manufacturing or production watchmaking environment\n, • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI)\n, • Knowledge of PFMEA, root cause analysis, and
