SENDCO • Long Term Supply, • Location: Horsham Day-to-day of the role: • Oversee the operation of the school’s SEND policy and coordinate provision for children with special educational needs., • Assist in identifying children with special educational needs and those who are intellectually advanced, supporting and teaching intervention programmes., • Advise and support fellow teachers in setting targets for children with SEND., • Manage teaching assistants and oversee their work with SEND pupils., • Support the Headteacher in planning and delivering support for children benefitting from the Pupil Premium., • Manage resources for SEN and make effective use of the budget allocated for SEND., • Maintain accurate records of all children with special educational needs., • Liaise with parents, external agencies, including local authority support services, educational psychology services, health and social services, and voluntary bodies., • Contribute positively to the effective working of the school., • Provide occasional cover for teachers., • Promote high standards of behaviour and a good working ethos., • Develop effective working relationships within the school., • Assist in offering extra-curricular clubs for children during lunch hours., • Contribute to the wellbeing of the pupils in accordance with our policy., • Play a full and active part in the life of the school community, supporting its ethos., • Participate in professional development cycles., • Support the school's responsibility for safeguarding children., • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a relevant educational background., • Experience as a SENCO or in a similar role within an educational setting., • Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and experience managing SEND provisions., • Excellent organisational and communication skills., • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including staff, parents, and external agencies., • Commitment to professional development and staying current with educational practices and theories.
