18 month FTC Technical Author Engineer Job – Cwmbran, Wales A leading global manufacturer and supplier of high-quality fire systems and safety devices is seeking a Technical Author Engineer to join its team based in Cwmbran, Wales. The Technical Author Engineer in Cwmbran, Wales will play a key role in creating accurate, clear, and engaging technical documentation to support both customers and internal teams. Working within a collaborative and forward-thinking engineering department, this position is ideal for someone who enjoys transforming complex technical information into accessible and user-friendly materials. Key Responsibilities: • Create and maintain user manuals, product guides, and technical specifications for fire and safety products., • Research and evaluate technical data to develop well-structured documents across multiple formats., • Collaborate with engineers and subject matter experts to ensure documentation accuracy and consistency., • Conduct audience analysis to determine the best communication approach and medium., • Review and edit documents prepared by others, maintaining a consistent tone and format., • Support continuous improvement by maintaining documentation standards and managing repositories. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Communications, or a relevant technical discipline., • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a technical writer or Technical Author Engineer within an engineering or manufacturing environment., • Strong understanding of life safety systems, with knowledge of UL864+217 and EN-54 standards., • Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills., • Experience with document control systems and the Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Multi Skilled Carpenter Industry: Property Maintenance Location: Isle of Wight Hours: 40 hours per week, plus out of hours call out on a rota basis Days: Monday - Friday plus out of hours call out on a rota basis Duration: Permanent Duties: Duties to include, first and second fix carpentry, door hanging (including fire doors) and DFG adaptations, Installation of kitchen furniture, tiling and basic plumbing works associated with kitchen installation, Diagnose and rectify faults within core and other trades related repair requests, Communicate with help desk to provide updates on estimated completion time and materials used, Maintain accurate records, including photographic evidence. Assist on other works where required and participate on emergency repairs out of hours call out rota. Adherence to health and safety, technical specifications and quality standards. Experience: Minimum of 3 years trade experience and NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Carpentry. Experience in UPVC maintenance and repair, kitchen and bathroom installations or fire door installations an advantage. Must be competent in at least 2 other secondary trade skills Must have full driver's licence. Must be able to work well on own initiative as well as part of a team. This role will be subject to a DBS clearance.
