School First Aider - South TynesideAre you a qualified first aider looking for a new role? The Education Network is currently working with a school that are seeking a First Aider to join their team as soon as possible on an ongoing basis for the remainder of the academic year, with the potential of continuing going forward for the right candidate. Do you have a Level 3 First Aid qualification, and experience working with young people? We are looking for a Level 3 First Aider to provide support at a Gateshead Secondary school. This role involves providing emergency medical care for students and staff, and calling for further support where required. As a School first Aider you will be working closely with the School nurse to ensure that the staff are aware of the medical needs of students, medicines are administered appropriately, and that any medical emergencies are deal with in line with the schools safeguarding/health & safety policy.Job Role: • To be responsible for medical treatment/action and the effective management of the Medical Room., • To give immediate assistance to casualties with common injuries and where necessary ensure that an ambulance or other medical help is sought., • To liaise with the school nurse on health-related matters and to positively promote healthy lifestyles across the Academy., • To deputise for Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in his absence, • Ensure that an ambulance or other professional medical help is summoned when required., • Take responsibility for students with Individual Healthcare Plans on site and the requirements around medical management and medicine administration., • Liaise with relevant outside agencies such as SOLAR/MASH/YOS and Children’s Services when it is necessary to support pupils requiring medical input or intervention The Education Network is committed to Safer Recruitment and recruits to Compliance + standards. Hours: 35 hours per week Salary: £28,700 per annum Contract: Full time, Permanent Bonus: £250 referral bonus & £250 new starter bonus About the Role The Gambling Practitioner will facilitate referrals, deliver assessments, and provide a range of brief, structured, and group-based interventions to individuals experiencing difficulties with gambling. The role also involves working collaboratively with partners, promoting the service, and supporting community-based approaches to reducing gambling harms. Key Responsibilities • Facilitate referrals into the service and provide screening, brief and comprehensive assessments, • Deliver a stepped-care approach including:, • Brief and extended brief interventions, • One-to-one guidance, advice, and support, • Relapse prevention programmes, • Mutual aid and recovery self-help groups, • Recovery courses and aftercare, • Develop and review recovery-oriented care plans using evidence-based approaches such as Motivational Interviewing (MI), CBT-informed interventions, and the Five Step Model, • Encourage engagement with peer support, recovery forums, and guided self-help resources, • Build and maintain effective working relationships with partner agencies including mental health services, housing, debt advice, criminal justice, and voluntary sector organisations, • Deliver training, awareness sessions, and brief advice to professionals and community groups, • Support the development of a network of Community Champions to raise awareness of gambling-related harm, • Provide advice and guidance to colleagues working with gambling clients, • Manage a caseload in line with agreed targets and KPIs, • Maintain accurate and timely records in line with data protection, safeguarding, and clinical governance requirements, • Contribute to service monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, • NQF Level 4 (or above) qualification in a relevant field (e.g. Health and Social Care, Counselling, or similar), • Experience working with individuals with complex needs, ideally within addictions, mental health, or psychosocial support services, • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and working within governance frameworks, • Ability to deliver one-to-one and group-based interventions, • Strong communication, engagement, and partnership-working skills, • Commitment to recovery-oriented and person-centered practice, • This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, • All staff are expected to work in line with organisational values, policies, and professional standards, • Ongoing supervision, training, and professional development are provided If you are passionate about supporting recovery and making a real difference in people’s lives, we would welcome your application.
