About the job Systems Officer 6-month fixed term contract Based in Burton On Trent We are looking for a Systems Officer to join our friendly and dynamic team here at the Waterstones Book Hub in Burton On Trent. As a Systems Officer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the smooth flow of stock from suppliers through the hub and into our book shops while providing hands-on support across both operational processes and system functionality. This is a busy and varied role where we will provide full training, we are looking for someone with enthusiasm and the desire to learn. You will be supporting the team with a variety of tasks that include testing system fixes or configuration changes, resolving operational issues, and ensuring seamless system performance. This role is for a 6-month fixed term contract, with the potential for this to transition into a permanent position. Please note we work on a shift pattern which includes: Monday–Friday • 06:00-14:00, • 10:00–18:00, • 14:30–22:30 This is on a three-week rota and then every fourth week you would work Sunday to Thursday. What you will be doing Full training will be provided on the key responsibilities. • Supporting receipt processes and resolving system-related issues., • Planning and managing workloads to ensure timely dispatch., • Troubleshooting stock discrepancies and equipment faults., • Ensuring accurate and timely store deliveries., • Conducting software testing, writing test cases, and analysing data., • WMS account maintenance., • Hardware and Software Support, • Incident Management – Being the point of escalation for the site, raising sales force tickets with third party system support and cascading information to the wider team. What we need from you • Technical and business understanding of a Warehouse Management System, ideally Blue Yonder., • Enthusiasm and the desire to learn and understand processes and procedures., • Experience with the analysis and reporting of service and incident data., • Excellent written and oral communication skills., • Competent in using Microsoft Office Products., • Ability to effectively communicate service issues to non-specialists in an engaging and persuasive manner.
