Our client is a leading Non-Food FMCG Distributor who is currently recruiting for a dynamic, Warehouse Operations Manager to manage the inbound and bulk storage function at their state of the art site in Didcot, Oxfordshire, on a Monday to Friday basis (10am 6pm). Reporting into the Head of Operations, you will be responsible for a 4 Direct Reports and a team of c70 FTEs. As operational demands continue to grow across the distribution network, the Operations Manager for Inbound and bulk storage plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of inbound goods, efficient use of materials handling equipment, and the smooth integration of stock into our wider supply chain. This role is central to maintaining operational excellence, supporting service levels, and enabling the business to grow whilst meeting the evolving needs of the customers. Warehouse Operations Manager Role Summary: Lead and manage the Inbound and Bulk store operations, ensuring all inbound stock is processed accurately, efficiently, and safely. Maximise the performance of all MHE fleet, particularly VNA trucks, ensuring safe and effective use in line with operational needs. Oversee put-away and replenishment strategies that support inventory availability, storage efficiency, and warehouse flow. Collaborate across departments particularly focusing and supporting internal key areas such as Despatch, Inventory, and Publishing Services to maintain a unified and efficient supply chain operation. Build and maintain strong relationships with carrier partners and suppliers to ensure timely inbound deliveries and resolution of any discrepancies. Maintain all sites waste management, including collections of recycling, waste and separation of waste streams across all areas of the business. Responsible for all MHE driver training, bookings, schedules (ensuring teams still in place to complete daily workloads), reporting and licence management Deliver operational performance metrics, including KPIs for accuracy, throughput, H&S compliance, and cost control. Drive team development through effective training, performance reviews, and succession planning. Recording and managing performance reviews, 121 meetings, team support tools (such as talent mapper) Ensure ongoing compliance with health and safety, security protocols, and company standards. Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives using data analysis, lean methodologies, and system optimisation. Utilise WMS (Blue Yonder) and voice picking (Honeywell) systems to manage and report on operations with high accuracy and visibility. The Ideal Person for the Warehouse Operations Manager role: Proven leadership experience within a warehouse or distribution environment, particularly in Goods In and bulk storage operations. In-depth understanding of inbound logistics processes, materials handling, and warehouse flow. Strong track record of managing teams in high-volume, time-sensitive environments while maintaining safety and compliance. Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence cross-functional teams. Experience working with warehouse management systems and operational reporting tools Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
