SEN Teacher (SLD School) – Permanent Position – September Start Location: Kings Langley Salary: Main Pay Scale (MPS) – Flexible depending on experience Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Start Date: September 2026 Working Arrangement: Temporary-to-Permanent or Direct Permanent Appointment About the Role Tara Professional Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a highly specialist school for children and young people aged 3–19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate and experienced SEN teacher to join a well-resourced and supportive school environment where pupils receive highly personalised teaching and care. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging, tailored learning to pupils with a range of complex needs, including SLD, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and other associated conditions. About the School The school caters for children and young people aged 3 to 19 and provides an inclusive, nurturing environment designed to help every pupil achieve their full potential. • Small class sizes of 8–10 pupils, • High staff-to-pupil ratios, • Excellent support from teaching assistants and therapists, • Classes grouped by communication partner stage, • Classes typically span three year groupsKey Responsibilities, • Plan and deliver differentiated lessons suited to pupils' individual needs, • Assess and monitor progress using appropriate frameworks, • Work collaboratively with support staff, therapists, and families, • Create a safe, engaging, and structured learning environment, • Support pupils' communication, sensory, social, and emotional development, • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, • Proven experience teaching pupils with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), • Knowledge of Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), • Experience working with pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), • Experience with communication approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC, • Knowledge of sensory integration strategies, • Team Teach or equivalent positive behaviour support trainingWhat the School Offers, • Permanent full-time position, • Flexible salary based on experience, • Opportunity to start on a temporary-to-permanent basis or directly on a permanent contract, • Outstanding levels of classroom support, • Ongoing professional development opportunities Applications are welcomed from experienced SEN teachers or NQT who are committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people with complex learning needs.
