Legal Practice Manager/Office Manager \n Salary: £35,000 - £60,000+ depending on experience, expertise, and the breadth of responsibilities undertaken. \n Location: On-site, York City Centre \n Job Type: Full-time or part-time considered, Monday to Friday 9-5pm \n We are recruiting on behalf of a long-established and highly regarded private client law firm seeking a Practice Manager to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of the business. This is a rare opportunity to join a supportive firm in a role that can be tailored to suit either an experienced Legal Practice Manager or a capable Office Manager looking to take the next step into a broader operational leadership position. \n We are open to candidates ranging from experienced Office Managers through to established Legal Practice Managers, with salary reflecting the breadth of responsibilities undertaken. \n We appreciate candidates may come from either a legal practice management background or a broader office management and operations background. You do not need to have experience in every area listed below. The role can be shaped around the successful candidate's strengths and experience. \n Core Responsibilities: \n\n • Oversee the daily operations of the practice, ensuring all workflows, systems, and procedures operate smoothly.\n, • Liaising with suppliers, maintenance, equipment, security, and general office duties.\n, • Support administrative levels of AML and SRA compliance processes.\n, • Maintain procedural documentation and keep documents updated.\n, • Ensure staff adherence to SLAs and processes and identify areas for improvement.\n, • Serve as the operational point-person for partners, facilitating their focus on full caseloads.\n, • Liaising with all departments to ascertain updates on their section of the business.\n, • Produce reports for the SLT.\n, • Reporting back to partners on all aspects of the firm.\n\n Additional Responsibilities (Nice to have rather than must have) \n\n • Manage in-house systems, support the firm’s case management system, and oversee updates and IT suppliers.\n, • Take full ownership of AML/SRA processes, including audits, risk assessments, and policy maintenance.\n, • Engage in strategic planning, process redesign, and partner-level reporting.\n\n Required Skills & Qualifications: \n\n • Previous experience in legal practice management, office management, or professional services operations.\n, • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.\n, • Comfortable working onsite.\n, • Ability to take ownership of core duties and an appetite to grow into specialist areas.\n\n Benefits: \n\n • Competitive salary reflective of experience and responsibilities taken on.\n, • Opportunity to work in a pivotal role within a well-established firm.\n, • Potential for part-time arrangements to accommodate work-life balance.\n, • Engagement in a variety of operational and strategic responsibilities.\n, • 23 days holiday plus bank holidays and Christmas off (not taken out of your allowance).\n, • Pension scheme.\n, • Opportunities for professional development.\n, • Friendly and supportive work environment.\n\n If this is of interest, please don't hesitate in applying. \n \n
