This role is based out of our Ripponden office - Hybrid and is a 9 month fixed term contract with a view to go permanent for the right candidate About our business JLA has been providing critical assets and services to a range of businesses and sectors including Care Homes, Hospitals, Schools, and Hotels for over 50 years. These assets and services are crucial in supporting customers with their Laundry, Catering, Heating, Fire Safety, Infection Control, and Air Conditioning. The company offers a unique, all-inclusive package called Total Care, this rental model allows customers to make a single monthly payment, to receive brand new equipment, and have maintenance costs taken care of. Role overview JLA are seeking a strategic and commercially astute Commercial Proposition Manager to grow and evolve JLA’s industry leading value propositions. This role sits at the intersection of strategy, product, customer, sales and marketing. We require someone who can translate market insights into attractive commercial offerings, relevant across multiple European markets. The ideal candidate will be able to skilfully balance high levels of perceived customer value whilst growing the profitability of each proposition. Key Responsibilities Proposition Development • Review and refine end-to-end subscription propositions that include equipment, servicing, maintenance, upgrades, replacement, financing options and customer support., • Build segment-specific propositions for SMEs, enterprise clients and industry verticals with unique operational needs across hybrid GTM channels (Digital, Telemarketing, In-Field), • Define clear value propositions that highlight uptime, service reliability, cost predictability, and operational efficiency—key decision drivers for equipment subscribers., • Work with Operations and Product Marketing to ensure equipment lifecycle design (e.g., refurbishments, upgrades, replacements) aligns with commercial outcomes. Market & Customer Insight • Leverage customer research to understand operational needs, pain points, equipment usage patterns and expectations from subscription models., • Perform competitive and market analysis across equipment rental and subscription-based service models., • Identify opportunities to differentiate through bundled services, flexible terms or enhanced maintenance propositions. Commercial Modelling & Business Cases • Develop commercial models for new or enhanced subscription propositions, including pricing, margin analysis, total cost of ownership and payback forecasts., • Build robust business cases to secure internal approval, working closely with Finance and senior stakeholders., • Track the commercial performance of propositions after launch and recommend adjustments as needed. Go-To-Market Planning • Lead go-to-market planning for new propositions or updates to existing offers., • Collaborate with Customer, Marketing and Sales teams to develop positioning, messaging, customer collateral and sales enablement materials., • Ensure Sales teams understand the proposition’s commercial rationale, customer value narrative and target segments. Lifecycle Management & Optimization • Monitor subscription proposition performance across acquisition, in-life service delivery, usage and renewal., • Identify opportunities to enhance value through service improvements, pricing adjustments, feature enhancements or new bundling strategies., • Support the development of upgrade pathways, add-on services and retention strategies tied to equipment lifecycle triggers (e.g., maintenance cycles, model refreshes). Stakeholder Engagement • Work cross-functionally with Sales, Product, Operations, Logistics, Customer Success, Legal, and Finance., • Communicate proposition strategy clearly and drive alignment on value, commercial viability and operational requirements., • Facilitate workshops and proposition development sessions to gather input and secure buy-in. Knowledge and Skills • Experience in propositions, product marketing, commercial strategy or product management within a subscription-based or service-led business., • Strong understanding of commercial modelling, pricing strategy and business case creation., • Ability to interpret customer insight, service data, and market intelligence to shape competitive propositions., • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate commercial narratives and value propositions., • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally across operations, sales, service delivery and finance., • Strong analytical skills and comfort with financial and customer data., • Experience in operational services businesses and/or subscription services., • Experience within commercial equipment leasing, rental, or subscription industries (e.g., machinery, cleaning equipment, industrial tools, office equipment, hardware-as-a-service)., • Understanding of asset lifecycle management, maintenance cycles and service-led value propositions., • Experience developing pricing for subscription bundles or service-based offerings., • Familiarity with B2B sales environments and multi-stakeholder customer decision-making. Experience • 5+ years of experience in proposition management, product marketing or commercial strategy.
