What you’ll be doing: • Fabricating and installing pipework systems in large and small-bore pipework using different materials (copper, cuni, carbon steel and stainless steel), • Using a range of hand tools & mechanical equipment to cut, bend and weld pipes as well as installation of pipework., • Installing utilities aboard ship i.e. sinks, showers, and toilets, • Install and assemble fittings, valves, and related components according to drawings and specifications., • Collaborate with other trades to ensure the timely and accurate completion of projects., • Adhere to safety regulations and company procedures at all times, • You have a Modern Apprenticeship or Trade Papers (SVQ3, City & Guilds or equivalent qualification), • You’re experienced in pipe manufacture and installation, using the tools and equipment needed on major projects, • You have solid knowledge of pipefitting methods, safe working practices and trade‑standard techniques, • You’re able to read and work from engineering drawings, pipework diagrams and technical specifications, • You understand SHE, COSHH and risk‑assessment requirements and apply them consistently on the job Our Pipefitter team is responsible for building and installing the pipework systems that keep our vessels operating at their best. Working across the Clyde on high-profile defence projects, this skilled team combines precision, safe working practices, and proven trade expertise to deliver dependable results. Essential duties & responsibilities • Design & installation, after care service and maintenance of commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems carrying out the service and maintenance of a multitude of equipment ranging from commercial equipment including cold rooms, ice machines, VRV & VRF Indoor and Outdoor Units, Heat Recovery Units, leak testing systems etc., • Maintenance, repairs and all general Air Conditioning duties, including being able to assist with mechanical & plumbing works if required on site., • Experience in Air Source Heat Pumps would be desirable and additional training on this can be provided., • Health and safety awareness., • Knowledge and experience of all air conditioning and electrical plant including, but not limited to Air Handling Units and their associated controls, pumps, heat exchangers, boiler plant (excluding gas side pipe work and accessories), • Knowledge and experience of BMS control systems., • Knowledge and experience of all air conditioning and HVAC installations, including issuing written compliance paperwork., • To maintain on site log books, permits & site paperwork insuring they are completed and up to date., • Must be competent in working on CAFM system and using tablet for logging on to jobs and completing compliance paperwork., • A minimum of 5 years relevant experience., • City & Guilds Level 2 (minimum) City & Guilds Level 3 in Refrigeration/Air Conditioning (preferred) F-Gas Certificate (C&G 2079 or CITB J11), • 18th Edition Accreditation is an also preferred for this candidate.
