QBE is seeking an experienced Underwriting professional to join our team and shape the future of our e-trade portfolio. In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure profitable sales, sustainable growth, and strong customer relationships. You'll be responsible for product strategy, pricing, and portfolio management, while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. This is a key leadership role for e-trade, overseeing our P&L for designated business lines including Property, Financial Lines and Cyber. Your new role • Design, develop, and implement portfolio strategy across the value chain, aligned with the overarching business strategy., • Manage the portfolio P&L to achieve targets and drive profitable growth., • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including product, pricing, and underwriting standards., • Develop and execute product strategies to support profitability and sustainable growth., • Lead, coach, and mentor a high-performing team, ensuring effective resource allocation and optimal performance., • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to maximise influence and business outcomes., • Deliver accurate and timely management information to support decision-making., • Translate strategic plans into operational objectives for the business unit., • Develop networks and relationships internally and externally to ensure seamless delivery of the insurance value chain. QBE has built a reputation for excellence within the E-Trade SME Motor market, and this is an exciting time to be part of a dynamic business, with ongoing growth aspirations. The role involves underwriting complex new business and offering specialist advice across our SME Motor portfolio. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining broker relationships, applying technical expertise, contributing to business results, and coaching and mentoring Assistant Underwriters. Your role • Underwriting business in accordance with the business plan within set underwriting guidelines, service standards and within individual earned or delegated underwriting authority., • Utilise product line expertise to analyse business prospects and recommend profitable risk selection., • Manage key portfolios/accounts with intermediaries., • Establish, strengthen, and develop relationships with stakeholders to maximise influence and achieve business objectives., • Lead profitability and process improvement initiatives by informing senior leaders on best practices and guiding strategic plans., • Maintain in-depth knowledge of current legislation, best practice, underwriting, systems, products and organisational guidelines, • Actively manage your portfolio and relationships with brokers and colleagues to achieve portfolio retention, growth and profitability targets, • Coach and mentor Underwriters & Assistant Underwriters.
