Quantity Surveyor Location: West Midlands, Wolverhampton Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time Monday - Friday - Hybrid working Industry: Construction - New build housing / residential Salary: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum Benefits: Car allowance or company car, fuel allowance, private pension scheme, private healthcare, bonus scheme, additional benefits About the Company A quality-focused housing developer based in Wolverhampton is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their expanding team. The company is embarking on a number of exciting new build housing projects and welcomes applications from Assistant Quantity Surveyors ready to advance their careers as well as experienced Quantity Surveyors seeking a new challenge. Job Duties Prepare and manage cost estimates and budgets for new build housing projects from inception to completion. Undertake detailed measurement and valuation of construction works to assess progress payments. Analyse tender documents, negotiate with contractors and suppliers to ensure cost efficiency. Monitor project costs closely to identify and report any variances or risks to budget. Produce regular financial reports and cost forecasts to support project teams and senior management. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, building regulations and company policies. Collaborate with design teams, contractors and clients to resolve any cost-related issues promptly. Support contract administration including preparation and assessment of contract variations and claims. Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and project documentation. Required Qualifications Full driving licence valid in the United Kingdom. Demonstrable experience in quantity surveying within new build housing projects. Education Relevant degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related discipline is preferred. Membership or working towards membership of a recognised professional body (e.g. RICS) is advantageous but not essential. Experience Proven track record working on residential new build developments. Experience preparing cost plans, tender documents and valuations. Familiarity with contract administration and cost control procedures. Knowledge and Skills Strong understanding of construction methods and materials specific to housing developments. Excellent numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail. Proficient in quantity surveying software and Microsoft Office applications. Effective communication and negotiation skills. Ability to prioritise workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to managing project costs. Working Conditions Office-based role with regular visits to construction sites within the West Midlands region. Standard full-time working hours with occasional flexibility required to meet project deadlines. Use of a company vehicle or car allowance provided to facilitate travel between sites.
