Principal Quality Engineer Role Purpose The Principal Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing the execution and continuous improvement of quality processes to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal standards, particularly AS9100, ITAR, and NADCAP. This role provides technical leadership in quality engineering, supports strategic quality initiatives, and mentors the wider quality team to uphold rigorous standards in aerospace and defence gear manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Leadership and Oversight: • Lead day-to-day quality engineering activities and provide mentorship to other Quality Engineers and Inspectors., • Act as deputy to the Quality Manager where appropriate and support high-level decision-making on quality matters., • Ensure ongoing compliance with AS9100, NADCAP, ISO 9001, ITAR, and customer-specific requirements., • Drive maintenance and continual improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring documentation, records, and procedures are fully aligned with certification standards., • Lead or coordinate advanced quality planning activities including APQP, PPAP, control plans, FMEAs, and FAIRs (AS9102)., • Ensure robust inspection and test methods are in place for gear manufacturing processes (e.g. hobbing, grinding, heat treatment, NDT)., • Oversee compliance and audit readiness for NADCAP-accredited processes (e.g. heat treatment, NDT, coatings)., • Ensure quality activities, data handling, and document control meet ITAR and UK Export Control requirements., • Lead high-priority root cause investigations and corrective/preventive actions (RCA/CAPA)., • Drive cross-functional initiatives for process capability improvement, yield enhancement, and defect reduction., • Expert knowledge of AS9100, NADCAP, ITAR, and ISO 9001 standards., • Proven leadership in Quality engineering within aerospace or defence sectors, including training and mentoring., • Experience with gear manufacturing processes and associated quality challenges., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (8D, DMAIC, 5 Whys, Fishbone)., • Ability to interpret complex technical drawings, specifications, and GD&T., • Familiarity with quality tools: SPC, MSA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, FAIRs., • Degree or HND/HNC in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality (or equivalent)., • Minimum 7 years’ experience in quality roles within aerospace/defence., • Trained AS9100 and NADCAP internal auditor., • Demonstrable experience managing NADCAP-accredited special processes., • Knowledge of ITAR and UK Export Control compliance in a manufacturing context., • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification (desirable)., • Employer pension contribution (6%), • Annual bonus, • 25+ days holiday, • Training and development funding, • Life assurance

About the role: The Transport Manager is responsible for ensuring the safe, legal, and efficient operation of Blitz Hire Ltd’s transport activities within the Film & TV Dry Hire sector. The role ensures compliance with Goods Vehicle Operator Licence (GVOL) obligations, implements Safe Systems of Work (SSoW), and promotes operational best practice across all transport operations. The Transport Manager plays a key leadership role within the business, ensuring all vehicles, drivers, and contractors operate to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and customer service. On occasion, the Transport Manager may be required to undertake driving duties to support operations during periods of driver absence or peak demand. Your duties will include: Operator Licence Compliance • Maintain compliance with the company’s Goods Vehicle Operator Licence (GVOL) and associated undertakings., • Ensure all vehicle, driver, tachograph, and maintenance records are accurate, complete, and auditable., • Conduct regular internal audits and ensure continuous improvement in compliance standards. Fleet & Driver Management • Oversee the daily operation of all vehicles, including HGVs, vans, trailers,, • Ensure all drivers are correctly licensed, trained, and medically fit to drive., • Manage driver hours, tachograph data, and Working Time Directive compliance., • Implement effective defect reporting and daily vehicle check procedures., • Investigate and document incidents, accidents, or non-compliance and apply corrective actions., • Develop, implement, and maintain Safe Systems of Work (SSoW) for all transport and yard operations., • Carry out and review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) for all relevant tasks and environments., • Deliver toolbox talks, inductions, and ongoing training to promote a strong safety culture., • Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for safety, compliance, and performance., • Plan and coordinate fleet activity to meet film and TV production schedules., • Work closely with the Hire Desk and Operations teams to ensure timely delivery and collection of equipment., • Manage third-party hauliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with Blitz Hire Ltd standards and legal requirements., • Review routes, scheduling, and utilisation to maximise efficiency and reduce environmental impact., • Lead and motivate the transport team, ensuring a culture of professionalism and compliance., • Provide coaching, feedback, and development opportunities for drivers and logistics staff., • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes, and cost efficiency., • Stay up to date with DVSA regulations, traffic law, and Film & TV industry logistics standards., • Represent Blitz Hire Ltd in a professional manner when liaising with clients and production personnel. Experience and qualifications: • O license, • CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Road Transport (National or International)., • Proven experience in a Transport Manager role managing a commercial fleet., • In-depth knowledge of Operator Licence obligations and DVSA compliance standards., • Experience implementing Safe Systems of Work., • Full UK Driving Licence (with appropriate vehicle categories for driving support duties)., • Experience within Film & TV logistics or Dry Hire operations., • Familiarity with FORs, CLOCS, and ISO 45001 standards., • Proficiency with digital tachographs, fleet management software, and telematics systems., • IOSH or NEBOSH certification (or willingness to achieve). Performance Measures • Full compliance with Operator Licence obligations., • Reduction in transport-related incidents, defects, and non-conformances., • Timely maintenance completion and accurate recordkeeping., • Effective planning and delivery of transport operations in support of production schedules., • Implementation and adherence to Safe Systems of Work., • Evidence of driver engagement and high safety performance., • Flexibility and reliability in supporting operational requirements, including occasional driving support.
