Job Title: Wills, Trusts & Probate Lawyer (3+ PQE) Location: Hertford / Hybrid Salary: Competitive (DOE) + benefits Job Type: Permanent The Firm: A highly regarded regional law firm with multiple offices across the South East, recognised for its strong private client offering and commitment to delivering high-quality legal services. The Role: This role sits within a busy Bereavement Team and will involve managing a varied caseload of wills, probate, and trust matters, including complex and high-net-worth estates. The position offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced practitioners while developing technical expertise and contributing to business development initiatives. Key Responsibilities: • Take instructions and draft Wills, LPAs, and Powers of Attorney (ranging from straightforward to complex matters), • Manage probate and estate administration matters, including:, • Taxable estates requiring IHT400s and associated schedules, • Identifying and applying relevant inheritance tax reliefs, • Administer intestate estates with a strong understanding of intestacy rules, • Handle trust matters, including:, • Advising on the use and creation of trusts during lifetime and via Wills, • Administration of Life Interest and Discretionary Trusts, • Understanding tax implications affecting trusts, • Advising on the winding up/collapsing of discretionary trusts where appropriate, • Maintain strong client relationships and deliver high levels of client care, • Liaise with third parties including financial institutions and advisors, • Participate in networking and business development activities, • Maintain accurate and compliant file management Candidate Requirements: • Qualified Solicitor or CILEX/FILEX with 3+ years PQE, • Strong experience in Wills, Probate, Trusts, and Private Client work, • Experience handling taxable estates is essential, • STEP qualification (or working towards) is desirable, • Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail, • Excellent communication and client care skills, • Commercial awareness and risk sensitivity, • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, • Proactive, professional, and positive approach What’s on Offer: • Competitive salary (DOE), • Bonus scheme (firm-wide and fee-earner), • 25 days annual leave (increasing with service), • Hybrid and flexible working, • Pension scheme (salary sacrifice), • Healthcare Cash Plan (post-probation), • Employee Assistance Programme, • Financial wellbeing platform, • Structured career progression and regular appraisals, • Supportive and collaborative working environment, • Regular social, wellbeing, and team events
