Monitoring Engineer – UK Infrastructure Projects 📍 Location: Various UK Sites (travel required) 🕒 Employment Type: Full‑time 🏗 Sector: Geotechnical & Infrastructure Monitoring 💷 Salary: £34,320 – £41,600 + £8,000+ typical additional earnings About R L Geotechnical Ltd. R L Geotechnical Ltd. is a specialist monitoring contractor delivering geotechnical, structural, and environmental monitoring services on major UK construction and infrastructure projects. We work on complex, live sites where safety, accuracy, and reliable site delivery are critical. Due to continued growth, we’re looking for a site‑focused Monitoring Engineer to strengthen our delivery team. The Role This is a hands‑on, site‑based role installing and operating monitoring systems on active infrastructure projects. You’ll be working outdoors in real construction environments, coordinating day‑to‑day site activities, liaising with contractors and clients, and supporting junior engineers and technicians. Night shift and occasional weekend work may be required, depending on project and client requirements. Key Responsibilities • Install, commission, and maintain geotechnical, structural, and environmental monitoring instrumentation, • Carry out manual monitoring readings and checks, • Support automated monitoring systems, data loggers, telemetry, and power supplies, • Identify and troubleshoot equipment faults on site, • Ensure high‑quality data collection and clear site records, • Liaise with site managers, engineers, contractors, and clients, • Plan and coordinate daily monitoring activities and site access, • Supervise and support junior engineers and technicians, • Work in line with approved RAMS, permits, and health & safety requirements What We’re Looking For Essential • Background in civil engineering, geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, or similar, • Experience working on construction or infrastructure sites, • Practical, methodical approach to problem‑solving, • Confident communicator on site, • Good IT skills (Excel in particular), • Strong health & safety awareness, • Experience with geotechnical or structural monitoring instrumentation, • Automated monitoring and data logging experience, • Rail, tunnelling, highways, or major infrastructure background, • CSCS / SSSTS or similar, • Supervisory or mentoring experience Pay & Benefits • £34,320 – £41,600 base salary (40‑hour week), • Typical additional earnings of £8,000+ per year through site hours, overtime, and night shifts, • Paid travel time to site, • Enhanced night, weekend, and bank holiday rates, • Meal allowances and accommodation provided when working away, • Company pension scheme, • Company mobile phone or allowance, • Full training and ongoing development Why Join Us? • Work on major UK infrastructure projects, • No sales pressure, no consultancy culture — just solid site delivery, • Supportive, practical team environment, • Real opportunities to develop monitoring and supervisory skills Interested?
