    BAR FINCH Mayfair, London Location: 31 Cork Street, Mayfair, London W1S 3NQ Hours: Full time, five-day week Reports to: Restaurant Manager and Maître d’ Start: Immediate Bar Finch is an all-day bar and restaurant on Cork Street, in the heart of Mayfair. It is owner-operated and small in scale, taking its lead from the classic Italian aperitivo bar and serving well-made classics, a proper drinks list and old-school European service in a room of quiet, understated luxury. We are open from breakfast through to the aperitivo hour, five days a week. We are a small business and we want Bar Finch to be a place people are glad to come to work. We hold high standards and we keep them without shouting or drama, on the view that good work comes from a calm, well-run and respectful environment. We train our people properly, we promote from within, and we look after the team with a proper benefits package and welfare support. Our team has trained at St John, Chez Panisse, Rules, Andrew Edmunds and Rita’s, amongst others. The role As a Waiter you will look after a section of the room and deliver warm, attentive, old-school service, from the welcome through to the farewell. You will report to the Restaurant Manager and Maître d’, and work closely with the kitchen, the bar and the runners. Responsibilities • Look after your section of tables across the full sequence of service., • Know the menu, the daily specials and the allergens, and describe them well., • Take orders accurately, make recommendations, and serve food and drink to standard., • Keep the pace and flow of service, and keep your station laid up and ready., • Handle bills and payments correctly., • Read your tables, anticipate what guests need, and deal with any request or problem calmly., • Serve alcohol responsibly and carry out age checks where needed., • Keep to our standards of cleanliness, hygiene and presentation. What we are looking for • Waiting experience, ideally in a quality restaurant., • An interest in food, wine and cocktails, or a real eagerness to learn it., • A natural, generous manner with guests., • Attention to detail and composure when it is busy., • Reliability, good timekeeping and a smart, tidy presentation. Developing with us We will teach you our wines, our drinks and our way of doing service, with supplier visits and tastings along the way.
