London
Job Description: Would you like to be part of a nice team of professionals around a disabled young man. We are hiring for a Support worker to cover both Waking night shifts and day shifts to support a 19 year young person who has epilepsy, PMLD, is non verbal, has a movement disorder and additional health needs. He lives at home with his family and dog. We will need to find someone to take on 2 regular waking nights and 2 day shifts per week. The nights are strictly waking nights to keep him safe and take care of all health needs and alert the parents in case of a seizure or if there is any other emergency. Each waking night shift is 13 hours long. 20.00 -09.00. We feel consecutive nights work best. We need to cover either Thursday & Friday or Sunday & Monday. Let us know in your application which nights work best for you and if you are interested in covering only the 2 waking nights (26 hours per week) or would also be happy to take on day shifts (day shifts are mostly 8 hours long. We would not consider someone to take on only day shifts. This position works for someone who has a strong interest in working with disabled and autistic people. We hope to find someone who has worked with special needs people before and / or is studying a related field. We would ideally hope to find someone who is flexible to occasionally take on extra shifts and who has some availability during weekends and the Christmas period. The pay rate is £16 during training (£206 during training and probation) this increases to £17 per hour (£221 per night after probation). Bank holidays are paid at double rate. 6 months probation. The minimum hours per week are 26 hours (if part time), Fulltime the minimum amount of hours will be 37.5 hours per week. There is always the possibility for more hours. The team is fair with each other to also cover some weekends and holidays like Christmas and of course they cover for each others holidays and if someone is ill. We would prefer someone to work with a UTR number on a self-employed basis but if you needed a PAYE then this could be provided through a care agency we work with. Please let us know in your own words - why you are interested or what experience you have - this helps us to understand if we can work together (please write in your own words and no AI :) . Importantly we need to find someone who can also support during some of the Christmas period and Easter. You would need to be quite fit and strong and ideally not be too petite either as you would be working with a still growing young man with a movement disorder. Please let us know in your application if you are interested to cover only nights or also day shifts. Most training during the first few weeks will be during the days and only after a few weeks be waking night training. Please before you apply read the full ad. Thank you. About the young person He is a very friendly and active profoundly autistic young man / teenager who is non verbal. He can walk short distances but only with a lot of support, otherwise he is in a wheelchair. His communication is mainly through pictures of reference and he is taught life skills with ABA principles. We will train you in behaviour therapy (ABA) and would expect you to follow our training. There are regular team meetings and you would attend those meetings too. He sometimes is also tired and unwell after a seizure or other illness and will then just need care and nurturing and patience. Sometimes he has to be in hospital and a member of his team would be there with him - so waking nights could also be at hospital. As he has a movement disorder he needs a lot of physical support. He lives with his family and also a dog. About you You would need to be able to appreciate a person who has profound autism and treat him with dignity and kindness. You would be someone who has interest in special needs, psychology and perhaps nursing. You would perhaps have studied a related field or are planning to study a related field. This position is very different from working in a care home and would be far more active even during waking nights. You would be assisting him with everyday skills as well as bathing, toileting and sometimes assisting with a late dinner. If you have experience with intermittent catheterisation, Peristeen system as well as PEG feeding then that is an advantage but we can easily also train those skills too. (Please research all terms you are unsure about before you apply). When working a waking overnight shift you will need to make sure that he is safe and alert parents in case of a seizure. Before and after a waking night you need to be able to rest. We would not consider someone who has a second job. This position also involves keeping his environment generally tidy and clean and help with his laundry. You should be responsible, cheerful, honest and very reliable, physically strong and healthy as he needs a lot of support. You would need to be flexible and sometime cover for other people in the team if they are away on holidays or ill. We’re two young entrepreneurs (28y/o) with a 10-week-old baby, looking for an amazing extra pair of hands to join us for the next 1–4 months. We both work from home and are running businesses across furniture, real estate, fashion and tech, finishing a house renovation, and looking after our new baby. We’re looking for someone who can work alongside us and help wherever they’re most needed that day. This is a genuinely varied role. One day (or one hour!) could look completely different from the next. You might be: • Helping with business admin, research, emails, spreadsheets or organising samples, • Helping coordinate contractors, deliveries and outstanding renovation jobs, • Running errands, organising returns or picking things up, • Holding or entertaining the baby while one of us takes a call or catches up with emails, • Putting on a load of laundry, tidying the kitchen or helping get the house back in order, • Organising a cupboard, unpacking a delivery or making us all something quick for lunch, • Generally spotting what needs doing and taking it off our plate There will usually be all four of us at home together, so this isn't a traditional nanny, housekeeper or PA position. It's much more of an all-round support role, working alongside us as part of the family/work setup. We don't mind if your background is in production, personal assistance, childcare, fashion, hospitality, startups or something completely different. What matters most is that you're bright, warm, trustworthy, practical and extremely proactive. We're looking for the kind of person who doesn't need a rigid job description and naturally thinks, “What can I do to make today run more smoothly?” You should be comfortable around a young baby and equally comfortable jumping onto a laptop, speaking to a contractor or folding a load of laundry. Hours: Monday–Friday, 10am–6pm Duration: Minimum 1 month, potentially up to 4 months Start: ASAP Location: London, working from our home For the initial month, we're looking for someone who already works on a freelance/self-employed basis and is able to invoice us for their time. If you're interested, please send us a little about yourself, your experience, your availability and your freelance hourly/day rate.

Support Worker for disabled teenager
hace 2 meses
£16–£17 por hora
Jornada completa
London
Overview We are hiring for a Waking night and day shift support worker / carer to join the lovely team around a 19 year young man who has epilepsy and PMLD, is non verbal and has additional health needs. He lives at home with his family and dog. We will need someone to take on both daytime hours as well as cover regular 2 waking night shifts per week. This is full time position (40 hours or more per week) for someone who has a strong interest in working with disabled and autistic people. You would ideally need some experience but the correct applicant we are also happy to train. This has to be your only job - as we will need some flexibility - to occasionally take on extra shifts. The payrate is £16 during training this increases to £17 per hour. This works out at £34,000 gross per year at 40 hours per week. 6 months probation We would prefer someone to work with a UTR number on a self-employed basis but if you needed or preferred a PAYE then this could be provided through an agency. Please let us know in your own words why you are interested or what experience you have - this helps us to understand if we can work together. We would expect the new support worker also to take on occasional extra shifts when colleagues are away. The night supports are strictly waking nights as they are to make sure the young person is well and does not have seizures. Availability needed also for bank holidays (paid at double rate). Importantly we need to find someone who can also support during some of the Christmas period and Easter. Ideally you live in North London or can easily commute. You would often work together with other team members to engage the young person in every day activities and to take him out into the community. But you would also need to often take on sole charge after training. Nights are sole charge after training. This is quite an active position - you would need to be quite fit and strong and ideally not be too petite either as you would be working with a still growing teenager with a movement disorder. Day shifts are mainly 8 hours long and waking night shifts are 13 hours (20.00 - 09.00). About the young person He is a very friendly and active profoundly autistic young man / teenager who is non verbal. He can walk short distances but only with a lot of support, otherwise he is in a wheelchair. He likes to go to the park, shopping, cafe and sometimes some planned activities all with a lot of support. He likes the swimming pool and special needs bike rides. His communication is mainly through pictures of reference and is taught with ABA principles. We will train you in behaviour therapy (ABA) and would expect you to follow our training. There are regular team meetings and you would attend those meetings. He sometimes is also tired and unwell after a seizure or other illness and will then just need care and nurturing and patience. Sometimes he has to be in hospital and a member of his team would be there with him. This position is very different from working in a care home. You would be assisting him with everyday skills and activities as well as feeding, bathing and toileting. During a day shift you would need to engage the young person both at home and in the community. This position also involves keeping his environment generally tidy and clean and help with his laundry. You should be responsible, cheerful, honest and very reliable, physically strong and healthy as he needs a lot of support. You will be trained by members of the team and the education consultant and be taught the principles of ABA - a behaviour therapy. You would need to be flexible and sometime cover for other people in the team if they are away on holidays or ill. You should • Be able to commit for minimum a year., • Invoice at the end of every month, • Able to work legally in the UK, • Only non smokers and non vapers apply., • Only people who are dog friendly apply., • Be able to speak English, • Be strong and fit, • Be able to swim and be in the water with the young person, • Be able to ride a bike, • Be based in London - ideally north London., • Apply with a cover letter (that explains your interest in this particular position and let us know your experience),, • send a recent CV with dates of education and work experience,, • lateron we need your enhanced DBS and relevant references Please be aware that we can not offer sponsorship. We are based in Islington. Please reply explaining why you are interested in this particular position. We look forward to hearing from you.
