Specialist Teaching Assistant Year 2 Individual Support Location: Haywards Heath, West Sussex Contract: Temporary with potential for ongoing or full-time role Working Pattern: Term Time, 5 Days per Week Salary: Competitive, depending on experience A vibrant and aspirational primary school in Haywards Heath is seeking a dedicated Specialist Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support for an individual Year 2 pupil with additional needs. Role Overview Deliver personalised support tailored to meet the individual pupil s educational, social, and emotional needs. Support implementation of the pupil s Individual Education Plan (IEP) and adapt learning activities accordingly. Foster the development of independence, confidence, and positive behaviour in the pupil. Monitor and record progress, contributing valuable feedback to staff and parents. Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCo, support staff, and parents to ensure coordinated and effective support. Maintain a safe, supportive, and encouraging learning environment that reflects the school s values. Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities. Specialist TA Requirements Proven experience working with children with SEND, especially within a primary school environment. Understanding of personalised learning approaches, behaviour strategies, and communication techniques suitable for young children with additional needs. Ability to apply patience, empathy, and adaptability in a one-to-one support role. Qualifications or training relevant to SEN support are desirable.
