Amspec Limited in Wigan have grown over the last 24 years into one of the most capable and exciting Design & Build enterprises in the Northwest, currently operating in 4 key sectors: • Commercial and Industrial, • Retail and Leisure, • Public Sector, • Specialist and Bespoke (our Specialist and Bespoke service involves the Design and Manufacture of fitted and loose Joinery products). We have a fantastic opportunity to add to our Joinery Design Manufacturing Department by way of recruiting a Joinery Designer / Production Assistant. Summary of Role: • Update Production files for the Joinery Workshop, following on from the Design and approval processes., • Increase quantity and quality of production files, including cutting lists, CNC Programmes, drawings and sketches, • Enhance Efficiency in Design process within Production, • Produce Joinery Designs for Projects via our SolidWorks Software., • Reduce waste by getting more out of SWOOD prior to manufacture., • Improve Design quality., • Ongoing development and research of new products & techniques, • Develop standards library of products, CNC programs,, • Carry out weekly stock checks from material lists and order where required to supplement stock levels., • Maintain the use of Quality Control Checklist Forms / Fire Door Worksheets / Fire Door Certificate Label Register / Project Delivery Notes, • Populate Fire Door worksheets and final inspection forms ready for Chris Lynch sign off., • Creation of CNC files, including nesting - updating during production to suit any change required, • Creation of sketches, addition of dimensions or views to drawings to facilitate production, • Answering production queries - e.g. edging requirements, ordination of boards on Machines, grain directions, position of handles etc. Minimum Mandatory Job Requirements: • Relevant Degree / Foundation Degree / HND / BTEC Qualification OR subject to significant experience or creative flair, • Excellent computer skills / numeracy and communication skills, • A sound knowledge of Construction Design Principles and material properties, • A good understanding of Manufacturing processes and Construction methods, • Excellent team collaboration skills, • Ability to meet deadlines whilst working on multiple projects You may be required to attend sites to carry out surveys, so a full UK driving licence is essential. You must have an excellent level of computer literacy (in particular with all Microsoft packages – Word, Excel) and a common-sense approach to information sourcing and problem solving. Monday to Friday typically worked between 08.00am – 5.00pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break (these hours are flexible if required).
