🌟 SEN Tutor (Creative / Trauma‑Informed) | Dorking | £30–£35 p/h 🌟 Location: Dorking (RH4 area) Hours: 15 per week Start: ASAP (flexible) Provision: 1:1 tuition (out‑of‑school / alternative provision) Referral Type: EHCP – Complex SEMH / LAC Pay: £30–£35 per hour (experience dependent) About the Role We are seeking an experienced, relationship‑focused SEN Tutor to work with a secondary level young person who has complex Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The role requires a trauma‑informed, patient and creative approach, beginning with art‑based and creative engagement to build trust before gently introducing academic learning. About the Young Person • Secondary school (KS3 / early KS4), • EHCP in place – SEMH identified as primary need, • A Looked After Child with a history of significant early trauma, • Experiences school refusal and disengagement., • Strong interest and skill in art and graffiti‑style creative work, • Responds best to a calm, predictable, low‑demand environment, • Engagement improves significantly once trust and emotional safety are established. Key Responsibilities • Build a consistent, trusting relationship using creative and low‑pressure activities, • Use art and practical, interest‑led approaches to initiate learning, • Reintroduce Maths and English gradually, following the young person’s readiness, • Support emotional regulation and learning readiness, • Provide session feedback and liaise with professionals as required, • Act as a stable, emotionally attuned and patient adult presence. Please note: Early progress may be slow. Success is measured through engagement, relationship‑building and emotional regulation, not immediate academic outcomes. Who We’re Looking For • Experience with SEMH, trauma‑informed practice or alternative provision, • Calm, consistent, non‑judgemental and child‑centred, • Skilled in using creative and flexible engagement strategies, • Confident supporting gradual, relationship‑led re‑engagement with learning, • Reliable, patient and attuned to emotional needs.
