We implement and maintain the critical business systems that deliver WBD’s products, while crafting a long-term technology strategy to enhance our pay-TV, digital terrestrial, free-to-air, and online services. \n\nYour New Role\n Join us as an Operations Engineer, where you’ll focus on networking, international satellite & fibre methodology, and compression & distribution technologies. Reporting to the Senior Director of Distribution Engineering, you’ll play a vital role in monitoring and supporting WBD’s global television distribution infrastructure and live events output. As part of our Tier 1 operations support team, you’ll need a versatile skill set and the ability to stay calm under pressure while continually developing your technical expertise. \n\nYour Role Accountabilities\n\n • Monitor all of WB Discovery’s channels.\n, • Manage transmission systems during normal and emergency conditions to keep services on air.\n, • Respond to affiliate inquiries and maintain ongoing communication with customers.\n, • Act as a liaison between support teams and customers, collaborating across all leadership levels.\n, • Initiate critical outage situations and manage incident and planned work tickets.\n, • Liaise with third-party fibre, uplink, and playout providers during fault investigations.\n, • Provide input and written reports on transmission system reliability.\n, • Regularly check the health of distribution equipment.\n, • Proactively identify risks in our distribution infrastructure and recommend mitigation strategies.\n, • Assist in training and developing Distribution Staff Members.\n, • Create and update documentation and procedures.\n, • Implement changes to distribution infrastructure as needed.\n, • Identify and establish new monitoring and metrics needs.\n\n\nQualifications & Experience\n\n, • Experience in a broadcast, media, or telecommunications environment.\n, • In-depth knowledge of television distribution systems, platforms, and standards.\n, • Working knowledge of digital baseband signals, SDI, HD-SDI, and ASI for video and audio signals.\n, • Familiarity with SMPTE 2110 and television distribution systems.\n, • Experience with telemetry monitoring and control systems.\n, • Ability to operate test and analysis equipment, including video waveform monitors and transport stream analyzers.\n, • Expertise in troubleshooting signal quality issues and systems integration.\n, • Computer literacy with excellent communication skills and attention to detail.\n, • Willingness to work overnight, weekends, holidays, and rotating shifts as this is a 365/24/7 mission-critical position.\n, • Ability to communicate technical matters to both technical and non-technical audiences.\n, • Must be able to independently research, troubleshoot, and resolve issues within established Service Level Agreements.\n
