Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Interventional Radiology, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 01/19/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Employment Type: Travel Department Overview – Interventional Radiology (IR) | RN This is a high-acuity Interventional Radiology role with exposure to IR, CT, MRI, Ultrasound, and Cath Lab–based vascular procedures. RNs may float between IR and Cath Lab (vascular cases only) within the same day. Staffing & Work Environment • IR Suites/Labs: 1 IR procedure room, • Cath Lab (8th floor): Used for vascular IR procedures, • RN Staffing: 7 RNs total, • Daily Volume:, • IR procedures: ~5–8 cases/day, • CT prep & IV starts: ~50 patients/day (adults & peds)Required Certifications, • BLS, • ACLS, • Special Procedures RN: Sedation support (2nd RN if needed), • Breast Biopsies, • Ultrasound: Thyroid needle aspirations, • CT/MRI: IV starts, sedation prep, oral contrast, pacemaker monitoring, • Embolizations (bleeds, fibroids, pre-surgical tumors), • Thrombectomies (PE, DVT using INARI & EKOS systems), • Drain placements (abscesses, pleural effusions, joint collections), • Paracentesis & fluid drainage, • Pain management injections (cervical, thoracic, lumbar spine; joints), • Line placements:, • PICCs, Permcaths, tunneled catheters, • Ports, chemo ports, • Fistula interrogationsPrimary Job Duties, • Full patient management pre-procedure, intra-procedure, post-procedure, • Assessment & documentation via Radiology Flowsheets, • IV insertions and CT preps, • Sedation monitoring, • Coordination with physicians & mid-level providers, • Patient education and disposition planningExperience Requirements, • Minimum 1 year IR experience, • Must be highly proficient in IV starts, • Open to first-time travelers, • Critical care experience is a plusEMR & Equipment, • EMR: Allscripts, • Combination of electronic & paper documentation, depending on modalityProvider Coverage & Support, • IR Chair + additional MD in-house during the day, • After 5:00 PM: On-call physician coverage, • Charge Nurse: Manages schedule, assists clinically if needed, • IR Techs: CST paired with physician; IR Techs from Radiology dept.Shifts & Scheduling, • 12-hour shifts:, • 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, • 7:00 PM start (nights), • Breaks:, • 1-hour lunch, • Two (2) 15-minute breaks, • Travelers submit availability; flexibility required, • Block scheduling not guaranteed, • Excessive call-ins may result in terminationCall, Weekends & Holidays, • No call requirements, • Nights: 2 permanent RNs staffed, • Weekends: No call, • Holidays: Covered by permanent staffFloating Requirements, • No floating outside IR, • May assist Cath Lab only for IR-specific vascular cases, • Weekly pay, • Holiday Pay, • Guaranteed Hours, • Continuing Education, • 401k retirement plan, • Pet insurance, • Referral bonus, • Medical benefits, • Dental benefits, • Vision benefits, • License and certification reimbursement, • Life insurance
