Job Description Plumbing & Heating Service Technician For Professionals Who Fix It Right the First Time Who We Are We’re the team property managers call when the problem is serious. The company homeowners trust when their last contractor couldn’t figure it out. The crew that shows up for emergency boiler failures at 2 AM and complex diagnostic challenges that require real expertise. We handle residential, multi-family, hospitality, and light commercial service—from luxury homes with radiant heating to apartment buildings with aging infrastructure to boutique hotels where downtime isn’t an option. Our reputation is built on one thing: sending technicians who actually know what they’re doing. The Role: Seasoned Service Technician (Plumbing & Heating) This is a troubleshooting and repair position for someone who’s seen it all—or most of it. You’re the person who walks into a basement, hears a pump cavitating, and already knows three possible causes. You diagnose faster than most techs can google. We need someone who can handle any service call independently, communicate clearly with stressed-out customers, and represent our brand with confidence and professionalism. Your Day-to-Day: Heating & Boiler Service • Diagnose and repair all boiler types: high-efficiency condensing, atmospheric, steam, cast iron, fire tube, • Troubleshoot no-heat calls: controls, ignition systems, circulators, zone valves, thermostats, • Service radiant floor systems, baseboard heating, and panel radiators, • Perform seasonal maintenance and tune-ups, • Test and repair tankless water heaters and indirect water heaters, • Diagnose and fix leaks (slab leaks, pinhole leaks, fixture leaks, hidden leaks), • Repair/replace water heaters (tank and tankless), • Clear drain stoppages and diagnose recurring issues, • Service/replace fixtures: faucets, toilets, valves, pressure regulators, • Troubleshoot low water pressure, water hammer, and backflow issues, • Explain problems and solutions in terms customers understand, • Provide honest assessments and fair pricing, • Offer preventive maintenance recommendations, • Stock and maintain your service vehicle, • Complete accurate service reports and invoicing, • Follow safety protocols and code requirements, • Communicate with dispatch and office team What We’re Looking For Must-Haves: ✅ 5+ years of hands-on plumbing and heating service experience ✅ Strong diagnostic skills—you find root causes, not just symptoms ✅ Proven ability to work independently and manage your own service calls ✅ Experience with boilers and hydronic heating systems ✅ Solid plumbing repair skills across all common systems ✅ Valid driver’s license and clean record ✅ Professional customer service skills—you’re going into people’s homes Big Pluses: ⭐ Licensed Journeyman Plumber or Gas Fitter ⭐ Manufacturer training (Navien, Rinnai, Viessmann, Weil-McLain, etc.) ⭐ OSHA 10/30, backflow certification, EPA Universal ⭐ Experience with commercial/multi-family properties ⭐ Own professional diagnostic tools (combustion analyzer, leak detection equipment, inspection camera) ⭐ Bilingual (Spanish/English) The Right Fit: • Calm under pressure: Emergency calls don’t rattle you, • Problem-solver: You enjoy the detective work of diagnostics, • Self-motivated: You don’t need someone looking over your shoulder, • Professional communicator: You can talk to anyone—from nervous homeowners to demanding property managers, • Pride in craftsmanship: You don’t cut corners, even when no one’s watching, • Continuous learner: Systems change, and you keep up Why Choose Us? Fully Equipped Service Vehicles: Trucks stocked with parts and tools—not driving back to the shop three times per job Excellent Compensation: Base salary commensurate with experience + performance bonuses + overtime opportunities Manageable Call Volume: Quality over quantity—we schedule realistically so you can do the job right Respect for Experience: Your opinion matters. We listen to our field techs. Ongoing Training: Manufacturer certifications, conference attendance—we invest in your skills ️ Quality Parts & Support: We don’t ask you to patch failing equipment with duct tape. Proper repairs with proper parts. ⚖️ Work-Life Balance: Rotating on-call schedule (fair and predictable) Team Support: You’re not alone—backup from other experienced techs, office support that has your back Our Ideal Candidate Is... The tech who carries a flashlight and kneepads in every pocket because you’re always ready. The troubleshooter who asks the right questions before opening the toolbox. The professional who leaves the job site cleaner than you found it. The expert who explains what happened and why, not just “I fixed it.” The craftsman who takes a minute to do it right instead of rushing to the next call. The technician who customers request by name because they trust you. What You Won’t Find Here ❌ Unrealistic call quotas that force you to rush ❌ Commission-only pressure to upsell ❌ Being blamed for warranty callbacks on shoddy work you inherited ❌ Cheap parts and shortcuts to maximize profit ❌ “Figure it out yourself” culture with no support ❌ Ignoring safety to save time Real Talk: The Challenges We believe in transparency. This job includes: On-call rotation: Emergency calls happen. We rotate fairly. Difficult situations: Flooded basements, no heat in winter, frustrated customers. Physical demands: Crawl spaces, attics, lifting equipment, working in tight spaces. Problem complexity: Some calls are head-scratchers that take real skill. Weather exposure: Service calls happen in all conditions. But here’s what makes it worth it: You go home knowing you solved real problems, helped people in genuine need, and used your brain and skills to their fullest. Ready to Join a Company That Values Real Skill? If you’re tired of: • Companies that treat techs like replaceable parts, • Racing through calls to hit arbitrary numbers, • Working with inferior materials and shortcuts, • Being the only competent person on the team Work With Professionals. Be Valued. Build a Career. Equal opportunity employer. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or veteran status.
