JOB DESCRIPTION The Electrician is CEI’s in-house electrical resource, keeping production equipment, building systems, and facility power reliable, safe, and code compliant. The role performs preventive maintenance on electrical and A/C (HVAC) systems and executes the electrical work behind capital projects — surge protection, new equipment installations, and machine moves. This is a hands-on, individual-contributor role that partners closely with the Maintenance Lead and the machine maintenance crew and serves as CEI’s primary electrical resource before an outside contractor is engaged. Essential Job Functions Electrical Maintenance and Repair • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems supporting production equipment, building infrastructure, and facility power distribution., • Diagnose and correct electrical faults on CNC machines, motors, drives, and control panels, partnering with the machine maintenance crew on repairs., • Maintain and repair lighting, panels, disconnects, and low- and medium-voltage distribution throughout the facility., • Respond to equipment-down and electrical emergency calls to minimize production downtime. Preventive Maintenance • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on A/C and HVAC systems, including inspections, filter changes, coil cleaning, and basic mechanical and electrical component service., • Execute the electrical preventive maintenance program on production equipment, including infrared thermography, connection torque checks, panel inspections, and component testing., • Maintain accurate PM records and equipment history in the CMMS or ERP system. Capital Improvements and Projects • Install and wire surge protection and power conditioning equipment to safeguard production and IT systems., • Perform the electrical scope of new equipment installations, including power runs, disconnects, and control wiring, coordinating with equipment vendors and Manufacturing Engineering., • Plan and execute the electrical portion of machine moves, including safe disconnect, relocation, and reconnection of equipment., • Support facility capital projects requiring electrical upgrades, including panel additions, circuit additions, and load calculations. Compliance and Documentation • Maintain compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), local electrical codes, and CEI safety procedures, including lockout/tagout., • Identify and correct electrical hazards and code deficiencies proactively., • Maintain electrical drawings, panel schedules, and as-built documentation as work is completed. Vendor Coordination • Support the Maintenance Lead in scoping and coordinating outside electrical contractors for work beyond in-house capability or requiring licensed sign-off., • Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum • 3+ years of industrial or commercial electrical experience, including work on 3-phase power distribution and motor controls., • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the ability to apply it to installation and repair work., • Experience troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems on industrial equipment, including motors, drives, and control panels., • Experience performing HVAC/A/C preventive maintenance or working alongside HVAC technicians., • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel schedules., • Comfortable with hand and power tools, meters, and standard electrical test equipment., • Strong command of lockout/tagout and industrial electrical safety practices., • Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR 22 CFR 120.62. Preferred • Journeyman electrician license or equivalent trade credential., • Experience with CNC machine tool electrical systems, servo drives, and machine controls., • Experience installing surge protection or power conditioning equipment., • Experience with facility capital projects, machine moves, and new equipment installations., • Aerospace or AS9100 manufacturing environment experience., • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and CMMS or ERP systems. Work Environment and Physical Requirements • Manufacturing, shop floor, and facility environment with exposure to noise, machinery, electrical panels, and varying indoor and outdoor temperatures., • Frequently stands, walks, bends, kneels, reaches overhead, climbs ladders, and works in confined spaces., • Frequently lifts and carries up to 50 pounds; occasionally lifts up to 75 pounds using lifting equipment or a second person., • Required use of personal protective equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection, insulated gloves, and safety-toe footwear., • On-call and after-hours response required for equipment-down and facility emergencies.
