Job Description OVERVIEW: A Prevention Education Specialist is responsible for developing and/or delivering research-based curriculum with fidelity through youth and adult planned duplication sessions; trainings; and multi-session, psycho-education groups regarding alcohol and drug use, chemical dependency and other related topics relevant to youth, families and those who work with youth. PE Specialists are responsible for promoting/marketing the Center's prevention services. This position also provides outreach via information dissemination on the full array of collaboration services provided by The Center for Youth. The PE Specialist may be called upon to fulfill the duties of the Social Learning Specialist in his/her absence and therefore may be cross-trained in that position. PE Specialists facilitate youth development groups; independent living skills training for the clients of the Center House – an emergency shelter for runaway and homeless youth (and other sites as needed); provide consultation/support to other programs and are a training resource to the agency. Note: This is a full-time, 11-month position. Routine work hours overlap to the school day 35 hours/week. Special events or projects may take place during the early evenings occasionally. Who will Assist in the recruitment, admissions and enrollment of youth into the Job Corps Program. Job Description OVERVIEW: In 1971, a group of students from Brighton High School had the idea to create a "center" that would meet the specific needs of youth in Rochester, NY. The philosophy supporting the vision was quite radical for the time: that young people, given information and support, could make positive life choices. They founded The Center to be informed by youth, for youth. The Center for Youth continues with this as our core principle. We are committed to empowering and advocating for vulnerable youth while elevating their voices. Our mission is to provide comprehensive, free, voluntary, and confidential programs. The Counseling and Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Department provides a continuum of essential services to the most vulnerable youth in our community, including prevention counseling, two crisis nurseries, an emergency shelter, permanent and transitional housing, a food and clothing pantry, street outreach, and support for minor victims of commercial sexual exploitation. The RHY Prevention Counseling Program Manager is responsible for the management and supervision of the RHY Prevention Counselors, including Community Counselors, Triage Counselors, Youth & Family Counselors, and Safe Harbour Advocates. They are responsible for reviewing and monitoring OASAS contract objectives, with a focus on program outcomes, as well as maintaining the New York State Safe Harbour database. The Manager plays a leadership role in planning, prioritizing and evaluating services, team outreach activities and linkages with other providers/collaboratives/committees. The Manager will be responsible for the on-going assessment of the team's service, identify expansion potential, assess community or catchment area needs and formulate possible responses. Job Description OVERVIEW: The Community Navigator engages homeless young people with the goal of increasing their connection to natural safety nets and access to community resources designed to address the medical, mental health, financial, emergency shelter and other basic living and safety needs of young people on their own. This position will assist homeless youth and young adults in crisis intervention, problem solving, action planning, and skill building, in order to address immediate life and safety issues, reduce the risk of sexual exploitation and abuse, and reduce or prevent incidents of homelessness. The philosophy supporting the vision was quite radical for the time: that young people, given information and support, could make their own positive life choices. They founded The Center to be informed by youth, for youth. The Center for Youth continues with this as our core principle. We are committed to empowering and advocating for vulnerable youth while always elevating their voices. Our mission is to provide comprehensive programs completely free, voluntary, and confidentially. The Counseling and Runaway and Homeless Youth (RHY) Department provides a continuum of essential services to the most vulnerable youth in our community, including two crisis nurseries, an emergency shelter, permanent and transitional housing, a food and clothing pantry, street outreach, and support for minor victims of commercial sexual exploitation. The Assistant Directors each oversee several essential programs in the Counseling and RHY Department. This includes supporting and supervising the Program Managers, monitoring and evaluating direct service delivery, implementing ongoing quality improvements, assuring compliance with policies and procedures, and adherence to funder requirements and regulations. The Assistant Directors also participate in the On-Call RHY Supervisor rotation (1 week, every 6-7 weeks).
