Located on the shores of White Rock Lake, the Arboretum’s 66 acres include a complete life science laboratory with endless potential for discovery. JOB SUMMARY: Physically perform janitorial tasks, including cleaning/stocking restrooms, emptying trash on property and offices, and working in all weather conditions. This role requires a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and ability to work independently and as a team with goals and deadlines. WORK SCHEDULE: The work schedule is mainly 9-hour work shifts (lunch period included), five days a week, including weekends. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Performs routine janitorial maintenance as specified by Supervisor including cleaning/stocking restrooms, emptying trash cans, cleaning offices, monitoring property for trash on ground, etc., • Assist with dispensing supplies. Deliver supplies to sites across the Garden. Log all supplies dispensed to assist with accurate inventory., • Identify and report any problems with facilities as needed (i.e. leaks, broken items, maintenance issues, etc.), • Safely operate and be responsible for minor maintenance of janitorial equipment used; assure equipment is secured at the end of each day and ready for use the following day. Notify supervisor of any supply needs., • Monitor equipment and report repair needs as appropriate., • Meet janitorial project completion schedules on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis., • One year of relevant experience, which is to include manual labor. 1-3 years janitorial experience preferred., • Knowledge of standard cleaning techniques and chemical usage a plus., • Professional communication skills., • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs; repetitively bend/stoop, move across property and work in all weather conditions., • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends., • Must pass a pre-employment background check, drug test, and physical examination., • Keen attention to detail, • Teamwork and diplomacy with guests., • Dependable, self-starter MORE ABOUT THE ARBORETUM The Dallas Arboretum is a garden for all that enriches lives through beauty, learning and connection.
