A community services organization in New York City is looking to add a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to join their team at one of their schools throughout the 5 boroughs. In this role, the Occupational Therapist (OT) will be responsible for assessing student's motor skills and developing & implementing goals designed to enhance the student's learning potential. About the Opportunity: • Start Date: ASAP, • Assignment Length: Ongoing, • Setting: School-based, • Hours: 8am to 2:30pm, • Patient Population: Pediatric IDD The Occupational Therapist (OT) will: • Make observations during preliminary screening of new students, and/or ongoing evaluations of students enrolled in the school, • Write a full description of the child's performance and behavior during evaluation referencing sensory processing, perceptual skills and/or deficits, • Make suggestions for approaches and activities that might enhance the student's abilities, • Take part in developing staff development and parent workshop opportunities around the development of gross motor, fine motor, and perceptual skills, and related underlying sensory and motor functions, • Develop a series of developmentally-graded activities based on evaluation, designed to improve sensory processing, fine and gross motor skills, and perceptual skills, • Carry out medical prescriptions for OT, • Maintain mandated documentation of treatment and progress (e.g., individual treatment session and quarterly progress notes, Related Service Attendance, etc.), • Submit a written report of the progress of the children at the end of each school year, • Make recommendations for IEP goals and participate as required in IEP conferences, • Maintain OT equipment and supplies, and recommend ordering them as required by IEP mandates or needed clinically, • 1+ year of experience working with the Pediatric population, • Bachelor's and/or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, • NYS Occupational Therapist (OT) license, • Solid assessment, clinical, and documentation skills, • Patient oriented, • Great interpersonal skills, • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), • Strong attention to detail, • Highly organized
