Job Description Traffic Control Supervisor Job Description - El Paso, Texas Company: Impact Traffic Control Location: El Paso, Texas Job Type: Full-time Position Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Traffic Control Supervisor to lead and oversee temporary traffic control operations for various construction and maintenance projects in El Paso, Texas. The Traffic Control Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vehicular and pedestrian traffic around work zones, strictly adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations, including the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD). This role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and a commitment to safety. Key Responsibilities: • Supervision and Leadership:, • Direct and supervise a team of Traffic Control Technicians and Flaggers., • Provide clear instructions, guidance, and training to crew members on proper setup, operation, and removal of traffic control devices., • Ensure all team members adhere to company policies, safety protocols, and industry best practices., • Promote a strong safety culture within the team and on job sites., • Traffic Control Plan Implementation:, • Read, interpret, and accurately implement temporary traffic control plans (TCPs) for various work zones, including lane closures, road closures, and detours., • Strategically place and maintain traffic control devices such as signs, barricades, cones, drums, message boards, and other warning devices according to TCPs and TMUTCD standards., • Adjust and reconfigure traffic control devices as necessary based on evolving worksite conditions, traffic flow, and unforeseen circumstances., • Safety and Compliance:, • Conduct daily site inspections to ensure work zones are safe and compliant with all traffic control regulations., • Identify and mitigate potential hazards to both workers and the public., • Respond effectively to traffic incidents, assisting in managing the situation and minimizing disruptions., • Ensure all safety equipment is properly used and maintained., • Operational Duties:, • Operate company vehicles and transport traffic control equipment to and from job sites safely., • Perform routine equipment maintenance and daily equipment inspections., • Load and unload work zone equipment, often requiring the ability to lift and move heavy objects., • Complete daily logs, reports, and other necessary paperwork accurately and in a timely manner., • Maintain a clean and organized job site., • Communication and Coordination:, • Effectively communicate with project managers, foremen, safety managers, co-workers, other contractors, and the public., • Coordinate with local authorities, emergency services, and project stakeholders as needed., • High School Diploma or GED equivalent., • Required Certifications:, • Current ATSSA or IMSA Traffic Control Supervisor Certification., • Current ATSSA or IMSA Flagger Certification., • Proven experience in a supervisory role within traffic control or road construction, demonstrating leadership capabilities., • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Texas Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD) and all applicable local, state, and federal traffic control regulations., • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record., • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check., • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 75 pounds repeatedly and for extended periods., • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, rain, and dust., • Flexibility to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as projects require., • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B., • Experience operating various types of heavy equipment., • Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively., • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to convey instructions clearly and interact professionally with diverse individuals., • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess traffic situations and implement effective solutions., • Decision-Making: Ability to make quick, sound decisions under pressure., • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational and time management abilities to manage multiple tasks and priorities., • Safety-Oriented: A strong commitment to safety practices and procedures., • Adaptability: Ability to adapt to changing work environments and unexpected situations., • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
